Does anyone know what the acceptance rate was for transfer students in 2012? In 2011 it was a frighteningly low 3.3%.

Do the admissions officers look at transfer students different than first year applicants? For example, do they put less weight on standardized test scores, since we now have a full year of college classes and grades? I know my test scores were quite low for Dartmouth standards (SAT 1950 and 29 ACT). I know they say they take a holistic approach but I sometimes feel that is just a euphemism. I don't even know if I could take those tests again, and even if I could, would it be worth it? I like my current school (George Washington University), but part of me still wants to try for Dartmouth as a transfer student (I got denied as a first year applicant last year).

I am not completely sure if I am going to apply, but if I do, any other suggestions? I love Dartmouth a ton, I just don't know if my chances are too low.

Well at least the rate went up, but only from 3.3% to 3.8% … I seems like they take people from a wide variety of schools. Does anyone know what they really look at the most when looking at an application? I know my first semester grade is important, but what about high school grades or just high school in general? Or SATs? Do they look at them as much as a first-year applicant? I just want to do everything I can to try to get in for my sophomore year.

About 6 minutes in they talk about what they look at. Might answer your question even though I don’t think they talk about transfer applications.

They bring up grades again at 13 minutes but they are talking about first year applications again.
