Do I have a reasonable chance transferring (GW-->Dartmouth)

<p>I would appreciate any insight about my chances of transfer from GW to Dartmouth. I understand that Dartmouth is incredibly difficult to transfer into, but I figured I'd give it a chance anyway. My reasons for transferring are both academic and location- I don't think I could be in a city for 3 more years.</p>

<p>SATs:</p>

<p>Math 650
Critical Reading 710
Writing 790
combined: 2150</p>

<p>SATII:</p>

<p>US History- 730
Bio- 670</p>

<p>GPA: 4.35/5- very competitive public high school</p>

<p>First semester at GW: will almost certainly be a 4.0</p>

<p>Do I have any chance whatsoever? I'd appreciate any thoughts.</p>

The transfer process is extremely competitive, and it’s very important that you show direction in your future plans.</p>

<p>I’m an international affairs major which is an interdisciplinary track (part of the Government major) at Dartmouth.</p>

<p>I have good volunteering EC’s and am a member in several clubs/organizations. I couldn’t get active very early because I blew up my knee and was immobilized for the first month of college.</p>

<p>Not laughable, but not totally reasonable, either. Don’t count your chickens before they’re hatched with regards to your GPA, but do get an internship/job and write dynamite essays. If you have strong ECs and/or a hook I could see it. Otherwise, not so much.</p>

<p>Do you think retaking the SATs would be a good idea?</p>

<p>There are plenty of other colleges that aren’t in cities, applying to some of those or planning to stay 2 yrs and transfer as a jr would likely be more helpful that retaking a 2100+ SAT. </p>

<p>Also, if that’s a weighted gpa, it’s really hard to interpret, better to give your UW gpa and whether your HS GC marked the most demanding, very demanding, demanding, average, etc. on your SSR last year.</p>

<p>It’s weighted…UW was something like 3.4ish.</p>
