@xMathx only some of the UC’s read the personal statements (UCLA, UCB, UCM, and I think Im missing one). I know Davis, UCI and UCSD do not

UCI does read them.

Oh yeah I just checked, I got confused between UCI and UCSC

I think it’s kind of funny when you look at which schools do read them and which ones don’t.

I think UC Berkeley and UCI are really the only schools who take the personal statement seriously. They are way more holistic than UCLA (transfer wise).

^UCSD reads them as well, saw that when I was admitted.

According to this, they read them but they don’t use it towards their decision

<a href=“University of California Counselors”>University of California Counselors;

But I don’t know if they’ve changed their policies since then

I think they just use them for scholarship consideration

Again, I wrote specifically about UCLA in my PS, and still got accepted into UCI.

I thought my personal statement was at best Meh! I procrastinated until 2 days before the deadline to write it. I used rather simple yet straightforward vocabularies to deliver what I wanted to say. Nothing spectacular about in my opinion. Still UCI accepted me. Probably because of my 3.9 transferable gpa - 4.0 major gpa.

Just to pass the time:
8 professors you’ll have in college.

I’ve had them all. One philosophy professor I’m having this semester is a combination of the activist, writer, world’s most interesting man and the tweed.

Now my banner is completely blank on MyUCLA. I can finally see the Financial Aid (Parents Contribution) on URSA.

I was excited at first that my financial aid page changed but now I’m wondering if it just changed for everyone. For the moment it seems to have changed for everyone except people who didn’t submit a FAFSA.

@Valicore I was kind of having the same feeling myself. I had my financial aid summary change today and then I saw that when I went into the housing application I got the “good indicator” message, but yeah, it does seem like everyone here is reporting pretty much the same results.

The good news is that in less than two days, we will all have the official word from UCLA what all these tea leaves actually mean. For now, I can’t say that these indicators make me any less stressed out…

I’ve seen about 3 people on this thread so far that have submitted FAFSA and not seen changes. On myucla either :)

I submitted FAFSA and haven’t seen any changes. I even applied as a phil major with a competitive GPA.

Probably rejected since I am a Trojan…

I think I’m finally accepting the fact that I will be rejected. I did the summer tricks (sociology major) and have yet seen any changes. All it says is summer student session. Seeing it work for the other L+S majors is killing me. It was expected I suppose.

To whom ever gets rejected: I got denied out of high school and it was the most disappointing thing ever, especially with a 2150 sat i thought it was complete BS. I then turned down USC,NYU for a UC to have an easier time to transfer. I’ve been at UCI for 1 year and am going to UCLA next year but, being a realist, the truth is that UCLA is highly exaggerated and over romanticized. It is a great school, but it’s reputation makes it seem like like something out of a fantasy movie, which it is not. You will realize that it really doesn’t matter what UC you end up going too and that the biggest factor is your attitude when you get there. UCI has been the greatest thing ever for me and I would say it can match anything UCLA has to offer.

So try not to feel too down about it.

Of course, I hope you guys get admitted tommorow though. (tricks aren’t full proof, especially with UCLA’s delay and uncertainty of not having all apps done tommorow)

^^ Well said. Wow so you turned down those amazing schools just so that you could have a better shot at UCLA? That’s pretty cool, you must REALLY want to go there. I hope you get in, but I’m sure that you will!

@wndfulelectric
The same. I apply the business econ which has extreme high GPA. I blame for my poor preparation and condition. Maybe have to try again next year. I am not sure if I still have chance cause next year will be my third year in university.

Update: major bar is still blank, financial aid EFC visible but no awards, housing message states term is unavailable but my financial aid document tracking changed I’m a dream act student so it states-- CA DREAP APPLICATION received, status: completed, received: 4/24
