any help is appreciated...any hope for me with the low sats/high GPA?

You have a great shot at getting in!
Work on your SAT score…it shouldn’t hurt you too bad but next year Oberlin will be more selective than it was this year and the year before(its becoming more popular for one thing…)Although standardized tests are one of the most important components that admissions looks at,they will accept you if they see you as a good fit(I know a few people that got in w/ an ACT of 25 or below,so it really depends on how much you stand out to them)
It’s great that you have an awesome topic for your essay, but make sure you convey why exactly you would be the best fit for a school like Oberlin(well,I guess this would go in the “Why Oberlin” essay…)make sure you add distinct information about the things you like about the school, and how your goals can be accomplished while at Oberlin.
I’m also African(Nigerian) so its great to see a fellow African applying to OC…best of luck!

As a '13, it definitely seems as though you have a great shot–just get that math score up above 600, and you should be golden. Good luck!

thanks! i’ve been reviewing for the math section all summer.
