2014 Fall UCSD Transfer Decisions Thread

My son tag’d for econ and has not heard.

did anyone’s housing message changed? o_o mine changed. I have a feeling the second batch will come out today or tomorrow!! [-O<

@transfersammy What does yours say? Mine didn’t change :(

Mine says The Housing Office currently does not have updated information on your Admission Status and therefore cannot accept a housing application today. You may come back to this link once Admissions has communicated their decision on your application to UC San Diego. You can check this by logging in at myapplication.ucsd.edu.

I think there jusy doing maintenance to the site, my email links on my status page were fixed as well. Doubt it means much.

First time poster (long time observer). I keep coming across posts saying “UCSD does not read personal statements.” Where are you guys getting this information from :-? ? On UCSD’s transfer website (the link I post below), under the “Review Process” tab, it clearly says “Every application, including the personal statement, is reviewed.”

http://admissions.ucsd.edu/transfers/eval-process.html</a></p>

@sonic23 I am pretty sure that is the “good” housing message. Unless there’s anyone here with TAG whose housing message hasn’t changed, I’m going to conclude that I’ve been rejected :(

@Chitosiri The UC Transfer Admissions Matrix, which provides general procedures on how the admissions teams go about doing things for each school. (Read, p.9: <a href=“University of California Counselors”>University of California Counselors)

Only Berkeley, Los Angeles, Irvine, and Merced reads personal statements according to this document.

It appears the default housing message now provides a little more ambiguity as to whether we are accepted or not:

My housing message changed to the “good” one. But I read on past threads that one person’s changed to the good one, only to switch back to the “bad” and they got rejected. So it’s still nebulous!! And even if your message hasn’t changed, as has been stated again and again, you’re not necessarily rejected, they just haven’t decided YET. Get worried on the last day of April (or the 18th?) if it hasn’t changed.

Mine changed too…

If your housing changed please post your stats and whether you have TAG!! Did anyone without TAG change? Did anyone with TAG not change??

@jlt2916 I think the housing message changed for everyone. This one doesn’t seem like any indication of acceptance as the previous messages were.

This is my hypothesis about the housing message:

The way the trick works is that the admissions dept. provides an applicant’s “group” information to the housing people. The housing people have their own section of the website and can choose to display different types of messages to different groups ({admitted, admitted-hidden, waitlisted, waitlisted-hidden, rejected, rejected-hidden, pending} are the possible groups I think). It’s just that admissions placed people on the “-hidden” groups, which would indicate that their final decisions are made, but not revealed to the applicant yet, while the housing people displayed the message to both the ‘admitted’ and ‘admitted-hidden’ groups (by some error in coding). This would cause the admissions section to display the pending message and the housing section to display the accepted message.

My housing message did not change…

I do not think that “new message” indicates anything.

Speculation: what if it’s the rejected message?

Now that I think about it, it’s plausible…

@cidzor that’s not true mine didn’t change

@cidzor that may be true! I thought that at first, and still speculate that may become the case, but I checked last year’s transfer thread, and the message some people are getting now is the one people got last year shortly before decisions were posted, and they were accepted. So we’ll see

Y’all are right

What if we called and asked them about the housing message?? I’m just going to keep bothering them until they release decisions

I have TAG and my housing status changed too. Can this really mean something? lol
