2014 Fall UCSD Transfer Decisions Thread

Because I’ve been coming onto this thread for a while and there are some people on here whose decisions are still pending that I’d like to know the status of when the time comes.

I strongly believe that this whole “Housing message” is an educated guess.

We have examples.

According to Jiwa(?) in 2013, everyone who received “the changed message” was admitted. He could not find a single competing case.

In 2011, and 2012, two people reported that their message status has reverted back to the original message. And they happened to be rejected.

The message thing wouldn’t have changed without a specific reason. It clearly shows that something we can’t confirm in the system has changed, thus leading to change of the message.

At this point, it seems like not all the ‘competitive’ applicants with strong GPA received the message.

However, it does seem like that all the people who got the message look like to have somewhat competitive stats.

Last but not least, I think we all share the same value here. Getting admitted to UCSD.
Those who are patient would not even bother looking at this thread.
We all want to find out if we got admitted or not little sooner.
I think we all are going through very special moment of our lives. Waiting for a college admission. Why not make it fun? I personally consider this thread very helpful and fun.

@anavera‌

You’ve already been accepted so there’s no point in complaining. Let the applicants who haven’t heard back yet comment about their concerns.

Like I said, it’s all clutter because this housing message thing keeps being revived year after year and in the end, even if you’re right about it being an indication of your application decision, none of you guys will say, “I’m definitely accepted!” until you get the actual acceptance.

I already signed a lease and gave a 1.5k deposit for an apartment in Old Town San Diego solely based on the housing message alone because it’s such a sure thing.

@RamonaFalls omg. ahahahahahaha

First, I like your risk-taking optimism @ramonafalls!

Next, I totally agree @newgen!

Lastly, assuming you are already admitted, your comments are a bit out of line @anavera, and very unfeeling toward the anxious ppl still waiting and stressing. Just sayin’.

Am I tripping or is there less contact info to update at the bottom of the portal?

@RamonaFalls‌ seems logical.

@Zalrons yes they fixed that as well I feel like the other links were for freshmen since it had options for parents

UC GPA: Time of applying: 3.45 After January update: 3.47

Major Pre-reqs Completed (Y/N): Yes, all the REQUIRED ones, but if I get accepted and attend, I still need to finish 4-5 “lower division requirements” (none of these articulated at my college)

Intended Major: Computer Science

TAG?: Yes, but it’s going to get rejected because I didn’t have a “3.5 by the end of Fall”; I had a 3.47 by the end of Fall, but I will still be considered for regular admission.

IGETC?: Yes, will be done by the end of this semester.

Extracurriculars (clubs, leadership, volunteer, work): In college: only tutoring which I started in October last year and still continuing right now. I did a couple things in high school, but nothing big.

I didn’t get the new housing message, :/

Ok cool! Thanks sonic!

I may not be waiting for UCSD anymore, but I am still waiting for acceptances/rejections. You think I’m not anxious and stressing out as well? Coming home and seeing lots of new messages just gives people false hope. So does bringing back this housing message thing. You’re just feeding into this cycle of increased anxiousness and making the waiting that much worse.

You’ve already been admitted?! You need to settle down ana!

Dangg this thread is active! None of you guys applying to Berkeley? It’s kinda dead over there compared to this thread…

^^ that’s because Berkeley has a set date. Lol. I applied.

@anavera‌ I’m just going to make a comment and then drop this. First off, a while back there was discussion about some housing trick. I didn’t believe it, I didn’t follow it and i did not flip out because ppl were talking about it. I’m not the CC referee, not did I care what others were discussing. Just because I didn’t care about it, doesn’t make it off-limits.

Every single person is as stressed as everyone else is and one needs to respect the boundaries. Your point is (pardon me for saying) a dumb point, that somehow ppl leaving messages without being accepted is so massively detrimental that, well… what exactly? You’re gonna jump off a bridge? What is it exactly that is SO HORRIBLE that ppl cannot post unless they have a response from UCSD? Umm, I don’t see this in any rules.

Now finally, the last issue, with this new housing trick - you know, it could mean nothing, but the results from before are pretty interesting. There is a pattern. I find patterns interesting. Now, does it mean anything? Who knows? But it’s compelling enough that ppl, myself included, find it intriguing. And yes, it is of benefit to next year’s applicants, because if everyone who got the new msg gets in, it’s a nice thing to pass on.

So, we get it. You don’t like it. So just go somewhere else. Again, last I saw no one was the monitor of this page. And, oh yeah, congrats for getting in. :)

Patterns are interesting as hell

@anavera‌

Emotions are running high for everyone! It’s probably very annoying for you, but what can you do? Like you said it happens every year.

One way to remove the clutter easily is to use the search function. If you search for something like ethnicity, you’ll only see the posts with decisions on them. Hope that helps.

No I never said that you had to have had a response from the school to comment on here. Again, speculation is fine. But there were people a few pages back who literally just came here to say, “No change. [GPA and major].” Like really? That’s clutter.

Anyway, thanks. Good luck to your daughter (I’ve seen some of your posts around).
