2014 SCEA hopefuls?

Solittletime, I just found someone on this forum who’s name is toomuchtime! Lolskies.

god so much happened since i left…just a couple hours ago! haha

goodness you guys…i’m the girliest girl ever. LOVE gossip girl, gilmore girls, sabrina the teenage witch (AHHH EMILY! hahaha LOVE that show. we need to have a marathon. whether it be at yale or UNC  ), full house, friends, things on the disney channel (HAHAH.), extreme makeover:home edition, CSI!! (my new obssession), what not to wear, america’s next top model.

haha I don’t really follow like every single episode of every show (besides gossip girl, gilmore girls. watched every single episode. probably more than once). I watch House occasionally! It’s pretty good but not one of those “I have to see that every week at 8pm” kinda things. I don’t watch tv THAT much (i catch up on a lot during the summer though haha) I know SO many people that love The Office…it just doesn’t really appeal to me. I never really get the plot?

LOOVE THE FOOD NETWORK. It always makes me hungry hahah so I hate watching it sometimes. ANd then I get inspired to make stuff. And I either quit halfway through (because WHO KNEW it was gonna be so dang hard) or it turns out horrible.

Basically, most of the movies I watch are chick flicks. romantic comedies. NEVER watch scary movies, they scare the crap out of me. And none of my friends will invite me to see another one ever again  hahah I’ll see action movies once in a while…just depends. Fav movies–legally blonde (hahahah), the notebook, a walk to remember, TITANIC, devil wears prada, a cinderella story, HARRYY POTTER (well, i really liked the last one, bigger fan of the books though). lots more.

itsbeenreal–SO JEALOUS. i haven’t gotten anything yet. and i signed up for Yale’s mailing list (I think I do this like three times a year.) and I haven’t gotten anything either. Besides that one letter but I think that was more for PSAT stuff, not the mailing list. :(

I don’t think I’ve ever said that I had “too much time”. Nevernevernever. I look at people weird when they say stuff like “man, i have so much time on my hands right now”. I guess I just don’t understand hahah If I’m not busy, I MAKE myself busy.

gosh, so much happens in 6 hours =P
(btw, im a girl)

i lovelovelove gilmore girls. and house! i’ve just started to watch “royal pains”, the new show on usa, and it seems really cool. harry potter, woooo!!

btw, thanks guys for articulating on my q a few posts (well, pages) back. i knew what i was thinking but couldn’t get the thoughts out…ya know?
& emily-- good luck at the interview !!
alsooo, i have requested to join the fb group!

ANNND (i just feel like i have to comment on everything. …because i have a comment about just about everything)

yes yes yes MK&A DID get to cast all the guys. totally read/watched? that somewhere and I thought that was the coolest thing.

BILLBOARD DAD! that’s it! so freakin cute. I hope this marathon takes place because I’m getting excited just thinking about it. I’ve had gilmore girls, gossip girl, and harry potter marathons and “chickflick nights” with my friends but never a MK&A one! or a sabrina the teenage witch one. You guys are brilliant.

portugueseninja–GUESS WHAT. i wrote part of my “Why Yale” kinda essay listening to your song. WOAH. i NEVER write listening to music.

itsbeenreal–sorry i got you and emily mixed up!! I have a feeling I’m gonna be messing up these usernames alooot more often. =]

smile-- omg. i know what you mean! im too busy these days, but ironically, it feels satisfying. like i’m productive with my time and busybusy schedule.

and portugueseninja-- love the music. i feel like i’ve heard of the ventura project before. the name is ridiculously familiar. but it’s great. hey, if we end up going to yale together, we def. have to meet up. your music is awesomeee.

almostcrimes–i love that you pointed out you’re a girl. I never know with usernames on CC sometimes. (I probably won’t remember that you’re a girl after I get some sleep…so don’t be offended haha)

and goodness there are a LOT more girls on here than guys.

and hey, if i ever get carried away with girly subjects, LEMME KNOW. it’s just my area of expertise. but I don’t want the guys to feel left out or anything because i could go on for daaayyyys talking about this stuff.

I have checked the CommonApp THREE TIMES today…just to see if the Yale supplement came out.

haha, my username is actually a song by broken social scene. they’re amaaaaaazing.
are there even any guys here? lol

i checked on the yale site to see when the supplement is supposed to come out, but it doesn’t say. i checked a month or so back, though, and the supplement was up on the site, so i printed out a copy. idk if that is for this year’s admissions, though.

^hahah juuuuust a few. I’m sure they’re not very fascinated by this “OMG MARY KATE AND ASHLEY…GOSSIP GIRL” discussion right now =]

Pretty sure that supplement is from last years. haha I printed out too just to see what it was like!

toomuchtime? where? i wanna say hi haha, mine is SO much better (right smile? and omg u take words right out of my mouth tooo much =).
i used to watch lots of tv been trying to cut back…

wait so can the fb thread start now? i’d get the names a lot less confused

I wasn’t wearing gloves and I spilled 100% methanol on my hands today, and they’ve felt weird ever since.

Let’s steer this discussion away from where it is now :)

If you get into Yale, what will you attribute your admission to?

rocker, that sucks! i’m sorry.

and smile—“sorry i got you and emily mixed up!! I have a feeling I’m gonna be messing up these usernames alooot more often. =]” WELL, you’ve started by mixing your own username up with solittletime’s BIG LOL. I was addressing solittletime way back when I said she mixed me and emily up, not you!

I’m going to start the thread tomorrow, promise!

Guys, don’t worry about not getting mail from them. I didn’t get that letter ya’ll were talking about, and I’ve been signing up to receive information since I was in the 7th grade and do it again about 5 or 6 times a year just to make sure they have my name on database. I’ve never gotten anything. ALTHOUGH, I can’t remember which college said this, I think it was Yale, that they won’t send you anything until the summer before your senior year (which at the time felt SO freaking far away…can ANYONE believe we’re here now?) so I’ll cross my fingers and toes that they send me a viewbook just so I can torture myself more.
Tell me, why do all seniors do this to themselves…daydream their way into pictures of their favorite college, and stalk the outgoing seniors on facebook who are now going to the school of your dreams so you can see the pictures of dorm life and junk…it’s such a bad way to live! AGH.

Guys, tell me about it! I checked 4 or 5 times a day to see if the Yale supplement is up yet. WHY OH WHY NOT?!!?!?

Let’s talk about something else…music?
I’m listening to Franz Ferdinand currently, which is interesting because I haven’t listened to them in a few years. The Fallen is amazing.
classic rock is a mustmustmust, soft rock (John Mayer type things), alternative/alternative rock (Ratatat, Interpol, Coldplay!!!). Those are like 1/1000 of the bands I LOVE.

wait WHAT?! thats really scaryy… :frowning:
has it gotten better since?

IF i get in… luck probably haha, i don’t know at this point how my essays and a few stuff are gonna go

If I got in, I’d attribute my admission to either being a very non-stereotypical asian, having a lot to offer the theatre department, or my double legacy (parents) hehe. And if I don’t get in, maybe my twin brother will! Ugh I know the latter is pretty horrible/brutally honest but basically all the kids who get into Yale from my school have had legacies =/

Hahah itsbeenreal–oh boy! this is starting to confuse me  can’t wait until the thread starts!! is everyone on the facebook group now??

musicmusicmusic! Ohhh love john mayer and coldplayyy! my fav right now is taylor swift! hahaha really girly and probably not that original. but i love her lyrics. I’m starting to listen to a lot more country? don’t know why. I mean I DO live in the south but still. Never listened to country until like a year ago. the beatles. i’ve recently decided to start listening to my old backstreet boys stuff. hahah. david archuleta. falloutboy. rihanna.

i’ll basically listen to anything as long as i like it? haha not really anything specific.

If I got in, I’d attribute my admission to…oh dear. I’m not really the steretypical math/science Asian (not BAD at it but just not interested). My academics and recommendations probably. I think they’re gonna be pretty good. I have pretty good relationships with my teachers and the ones I’m getting are known for writing amazing recs (according to my counselor?) And mayyyybe my EC and work experience (although I’m sure it’s not that big of a deal compared to all the other Yale applicants…). Other than that, I’d say it’s mostly gonna be luck!

demi–wow!! double legacy?? cooool. and really cool about having a twin brother! =]

Let’s turn this into a competition: The first person who notices that the Yale Supplement is out and who tells everyone else here wins. I don’t know what, but they still win.

If I get in, I’d attribute my admission to having done tons of cancer research (hence the methanol, lolol) and to having co-authored a paper on the research. Apart from that, I’m fluent or near-fluent in four languages, and I have a basic knowledge of a fifth. Aaaand the teachers who will write my recs both absolutely love me, and they’re from different subject areas (chemistry and English lit). Hopefully I’ll write great essays and then everything will be peachy.

Is anyone else having trouble associating usernames to names?

Now that it’s closer to August, I check like every time I’m on the computer =] (haha i TOTALLY checked at like 8am this morning…)

So cool that you do cancer research!
Yeah, I haven’t done anything that cool haha
WOW! what languages?? (I think you’ve answered this like way back haha)
I’m really interested in learning languages too. I’m getting my chemistry and spanish teacher (she’s known me for 2 years and it’ll be her 3rd year next year) for recs.

ME. it’s like learning 2 names. haha. I’m getting so confused with these usernames and now that I have to match up username to name…my head is seriously going to be spinning.

If I got I would attribute it to three main things:

 1. At the end of high school I will have two high school diplomas and two transcripts. Why? Because from grade I attended…essentially ramped up Hebrew school that you go to after traditional Hebrew school. This one is at a college, and you go for four hours a week for four years and take classes, get grades, take tests, etc. I graduated this year with straight A’s and one of my high school diplomas, now all I need is my actual high school’s diploma next June (EEK)!
 2. My personal diversity represented through my singing. At this Hebrew high school I was an integral member of several choruses including two a cappella groups, but at school I’m the alto section leader of the gospel choir!
 3. My work with neurological conditions. I want to be a neuropsychologist, specializing in autism, so I’ve been working very closely with the students with special needs at my school and I’ve been president of a club that integrates these students with non-special needs students in the school for two years now. Last year I wrote a grant and received funding to expand our programing, take the club on field trips, and buy all sorts of games and art supplies. And my interest in neuropsychology also connects with own synesthesia (which if you don’t know what that is I’d be happy to explain it to you, it’s really cool!)

How about they win a gigantic ice cream cone when (…if?) we meet up?
Oooh yes, matching up the usernames is a little confusing sometimes D:

Itsbeenreal, wow! Your work with neuropsych is amazing. Also, I’ve always wondered what synesthesia was like, but I guess it’s hard to explain it? Do tell!
And Rocker your cancer research sounds awesome as well.
Hmm I don’t have any extracurriculars as impressive and focused as that but I’m super involved in my community and I have a few national awards in art and theatre; I’m pretty serious about really giving back using your talents. This year my group of friends and I raised $35,000 for a new sound system for the school auditorium with movie nights, which was so much fun hosting. I was in charge of food lol, we even bought a vintage popcorn machine!
Haha and sort of related to fashion, because I work with clothes and fabric so much in theatre, so far I have hosted a post-prom dress drive (89 dresses for underpriveleged girls who otherwise couldn’t afford prom!) and I’m sewing pretty flower brooches (lol you can pin them onto a headband in case you get sick of wearing lopsided bow ones) to raise money for unicef. It’s been fun!

And I feel like we’d all really fit into Yale, you’re all so friendly!

I’m starting the thread and I’m going to answer there  YES. So stoked.
