S accepted by email yesterday- no letter yet. For him it’s between Reed and Whitman. I think he’ll revisit both.

I received this e-mail from Reed a week ago that basically said : Senior Associate Dean has determined that your educational background qualifies you as a candidate for freshman admission rather than transfer admission. We have changed your application type accordingly.

I initially did apply as a transfer so we shouldn’t get our admission notices until May but having received this e-mail I feel as though maybe I’m now considered to be within the “freshman group”. I’ve yet to receive any rejection or acceptance notices though it does say my application is complete. I’m thinking of e-mailing them tomorrow and asking when I should expect it- though I really don’t want to bug them, I know they are crazy busy.

When it says it’s complete online does that mean that they are done reviewing it and have made their decision or that just all of my required items are in?

Accepted!!!

I can’t believe Reed took a chance on me – my acceptance is a testament to its radically autonomous reputation.

Due to years of chronic illness, I had a spotty transcript, which included several flunked classes and even more withdrawals, and no high school diploma. Last year, doctors discovered a secondary cause to my health problems, and I immediately underwent surgery. I recovered entirely.

The rest of my application was good: 2130 on the SAT, national class rank of 99th percentile (according to the GED), a 4.0 GPA since the surgery, and a letter of recommendation from a Stanford professor. Still, most schools, worried about their ranking, would not give an applicant like me a chance. But not Reed. The one-of-a-kind haven for freethinking intellectuals lives!

Got in! :)

So as a waitlisted applicant, I calculated that there’s a 1% chance I’ll be accepted. Oh. Cool. Slim chance that I am going to Reed. SADNESS.

Why a 1% chance?

Did the math from the common data set - last year it was something like 9/620. Okay, so that’s like 1.5%…but you know what I mean. oy oy oy

Oh yikes…you’re right. I guess it’s good to not get my hopes up.

Accepted! The confetti made me laugh, but then it got all over the sofa. Now my cushions will be perpetually sparkly…

^Less expensive than bejewelling all of your furniture

ACCEPTED.

Loved the email, and the package (with all the glitter). I’m waiting on my financial aid decision now.

P.S: Anyone else here accepted from India ?

Anyone know when the admit packet for the ED kids is gonna arrive? All I got with my “big envelope” was an enrollment form, FA statement reminding me I didn’t apply, a congratulatory letter, and confetti. Today, I got a postcard inviting me to a reception in NY for admitted students, but nothing about stuff like Reed Activity Days, housing, roommate, and what have you.

^That’s a good question. Did the RD admits get all those additional forms?

duckydiana and francaisalamatt, I got information about Reed Activity Days (April 21 and 22), but nothing about housing, roommate, or whatever else. I’d imagine that would come after May 1st…?? Or, I’d say after confirming enrollment, but I suppose you both have already done all that :)

I’m visiting the campus on Thursday and am really excited It would be great to have the two of you as classmates next year, so hopefully my trip goes well!

Daughter accepted ~ !

We got that lovely letter with all the confetti as well, and likewise - waiting to see how the financial aid pans out.

At this point, expect to see a continuous trickle of mail from Reed. You will receive information on housing, activity days, etc. later on.

Alright, thanks guys!

And Josephina, I don’t doubt you’ll have a great time; my first trip was so great I went back a second time from Connecticut ;)

I e-mailed one of the admission officers inquiring about my admission letter, which I’ve yet to receive. My application was an odd one, I applied as a transfer and then it was changed to a freshman application. I have college credits but maybe not enough to fully qualify me as a second year Reedie.

In the e-mail she said I’d be notified by e-mail and mail tomorrow. I’m anxiously awaiting my results!! I should prepare myself for worst but I’m so ambitious, I want to think that I will get in. If you are not accepted are you also notified by mail or just by e-mail?

So excited and nervous to get my results tomorrow!!!

All decisions are sent by both snail and email (when possible).

To cry or not to cry? Cry.

Reed is my top school and although I wasn’t totally shocked that I was wait-listed, I’ve been pretty depressed about it.

Does anyone know the chances of getting in off the wait-list? I’ve read that some schools like Penn accept quite a few but for example Middlebury, accepted none last year. From what information they do provide, it says that selection from the wait-list isn’t ranked.

Totally bummed :(
