What's the good word regarding letters from this great college? Daughter and us parents patiently waiting... =D

We EDers are just as “patient” to find out who gets in ;). Can’t wait to meet all my new classmates :D

I was looking at the UW online admissions status thread because I applied there also, and they give you a login where there is a sort of roundabout way of determining acceptance. So I got to thinking. Reed gives you a financial aid login for the Banner Self-Service where you can check the status of your financial aid application. About a month ago when I logged on I could see the application requirements that I fulfilled, like the CSS Profile and FAFSA. I can no longer view those, and when I click on the Financial Aid tab, and click on Financial Aid Status, it tells me my cost of attendance is 56,000 (the full price). It didn’t used to say this.

So, the point I’m trying to make is, what could this mean?

ctc, can you describe where exactly you clicked to see that number and where it says it?

From the Main Menu, click on the financial aid tab at the top.

After that there are five links. Click on the first one that reads “Financial Aid Status”
It will ask you to submit aid year. Choose 2011-2012. After that is when you should see it.

Not to mention that now when you check the status of your application, it no longer has the series of check boxes but says that my application is complete. So something obviously changed, hopefully not negatively.

huh, it’s not there for me. All it says is that I have unsatisfied student requirements (which isnt true) and that my academic progress in not yet reviewed. weird. thanks anyway!

@ctc414

My page looks the same! Not sure if this means anything, as Reed probably wouldn’t tell (and therefore give an early hint) even if I asked. But definitely something to think about – good idea!

Something I noticed, though: Did your cost of attendance read exactly 56K, or were you rounding? Because mine says $55,950. The difference is idiotically small, I know, but it would be interesting if our costs read differently…

Mine was a little more. 56,250. But given the fact that Reed meets full need of all students that would be an impossibility. They probably haven’t evaluated financial aid yet. I really think we might be on to something though. This guy up top has something totally different. And above the cost of attendance it reads, “Based on your status as a Freshman - Dorm/Board Student.”

It definitely did not say this a month ago.

since it says it hasnt recieved my FAFSA and hasnt reviewed my latest term I’m still holding out hope, dammit. still, very unsettling news. best of luck to you guys

My account doesn’t have a financial aid tab or a main menu =0. But it does indicate my application is complete. Interesting…

I also have the “complete” message, but no hints there. My cost of attendance is 56,500; I think that they factor in travel expenses, which is why all of ours are different. Also, I think the academic progress may only be applicable for current students? Regardless, I think the gist is that poor academic performance negatively affects financial aid.

I mean, admissions and financial aid are totally different offices, so I’d take everything with a grain of salt. We’ll probably hear in a little over a week, anyway… my vote is for emails on the 25th, judging by the past couple of years.

So nervous, so excited!

That merely means your financial aid info has been completed and reviewed. Just wait for the emails. They come with a cute little video.

Have seen an example of those videos from a previous years. So very well done!

My GOD i can’t wait till april. Do you know if reed sends their letters before april 1?

^The website says late March. So, Kdurs is probably closer with March 25th.

That’s not necessarily an indication of your status, just that they’re done reviewing (which is still exciting, though, trust me, I know!).

So excited for all you guys Hurry up and get accepted already

@francaislamat,

You have already been accepted, what does your financial aid page look like?

The financial aid page is no indication of your acceptance, unfortunately. You will not know anything until you receive your acceptance emails.

^What zchryevns and Kdurs11 said. The admissions and financial offices are completely separate.

But in case anyone is still interested, my financial page looks exactly like what you all described except that it says “based on your status as a Early Decision - Dorm/Board student.” And fyi, the estimated cost of attendance includes costs like travel, books and supplies, fees, incidental expenses, etc. The individual cost for each of these categories was listed in the financial aid letter I received with my acceptance.

And my total estimated cost was only $54,400. hmmm, I wonder why the numbers are so different. I mean travel wouldn’t account for a 2K difference, right?

Anyway, Good luck to you all!! :D

I couldn’t tell you what my FA package looked like; I didn’t apply for any, since I figured I wouldn’t get anything that’d make a difference.
