2015 UCLA Transfer Regents

Although I still haven’t been notified via email, I saw that I was accepted as a Regents Scholar on MyUcla, under awards and notices section. Everyone else who got regents, did all of you receive an actual email?

@stevieindb it does not include summer.

@psych95 How did you see that you got regents on myucla? Is it on your ePAL?

So I got into regents, but I also got into Berkeley (without regents).

This makes the decision tough. I was heavily leaning towards Berkeley but now my UCLA financial aid is a bit better.

How much stock should I put into their budget projections? I’m assuming that the only costs I have to pay directly to the university are tuition and fees, housing, and food which comes up to about 29000. The rest is just their own estimates and could be overestimates. I mean I don’t see why books & supplies would really cost 620.00 per semester. Most books can be rented and I already have a laptop. With that in mind, 29000 is nearly covered by my gift aid. Taking on a couple thousand worth of student loans to make the rest isn’t a big deal.

And how much are the other benefits of regents worth it? Priority enrollment, guaranteed housing, and guaranteed parking.

@psych95 where exactly does it say you were accepted as a regents scholar? also maybe the email went to junk mail i know that happened with the regents invite to a lot of people

@Npham95 @Hyeem94 There is a “view” option in the “awards and notices” section under the “finances and jobs” tab. I clicked on it and it me to my regents letter. I checked my junk, nothing there either. However, I got an email from ucla saying my PAL has been updated, but nothing has changed on there.

@psych95 How nice that is! I tried it but nothing happened…! I tried to call the coordinator too but no one answered. I guess there is 0 hope for me.

@psych95 oh okay the fact that you got the email that you’re epal changed is how people know they got the award. As far as your financial aid changing, I know if students only get the blue and gold opportunity plan there financial aid won’t increase no matter how many scholarships they get so I am not sure if that’s the case with you.

It is so weird that I got nothing. No email. No update on my portal. I guessed that I lose it.

@joyceyu1302 You are not alone :)! at this point, i just hope for a rejection letter instead of nothing.

I got an email saying I got the regents scholarship today. I am not sure how much money I will be getting. I am surprised and was not aware that I indirectly applied for it. Cause I did not get any invitation and did not apply for it separately

@jasmine2468 umm what? yes, you did. you had to submit a separate application and submit a letter of recommendation.

“If you wish to be considered for the UCLA Regents Scholarship, please submit the application along with a letter of recommendation, from a professor or counselor, by May 1, 2015.”

@jasmine2468 …wait…How is that possible? Can you elaborate for us? If you did not get an invitation then it is not possible for you to compete as far as I understand.

Are you all transfer or freshman?

Transfers

You have to be invited and then apply and submit two essays and a letter of recommendation. Same with freshmen.

I can see how the thread title would be misleading :-w

The plot thickens.

I got an email today. And I seriously do not recall applying for this. I am 100% sure I did not apply for it because I didn’t ask for any letter of recommendation.

I got an email saying that I received it. I emailed back to confirm and they told me that I received it, and to check with the UCLA Financial aid office to see the award.

I will call the financial aid office tomorrow to confirm. I will let you all know.

By the way I am a transfer student for Fall 2015

I applied for the UCLA Alumni Scholarship in April for the May 1st deadline.

But that is not regents scholarship

Maybe it was a mistake. I wouldn’t stress out about it if I were you. I will call and confirm tomorrow.

Good Luck!
