Do you think they are upset by the W? Or because it Calc? I’m wanting to drop my History class, it’s innecessary, so I will receive a W, I just don’t want the W. Will they care? It’ll drop me from 18 credits to 15, and I took 19 last semester, but received 22 in total and 12 from AP.
@cmartin12 You never know exactly what they’re thinking but I wouldn’t want to take the risk unless i absolutely had to (in my case, i have no choice but to drop it or I’ll get a C.) I talked to a guy in admissions and he said they typically overlook a W if the rest of your application is good, but any more than 1 is a red flag to them. But then again if you’re very comfortable with your application and think you have an exceptional shot at being admitted then yeah I’d say don’t take an unnecessary class. I guess it depends on the person.
hi guys! i have a quick question. so, i’m on a quarter system but i’m really depressed and have a ton of issues that i’m dealing with at school. im in a different state and was thinking about leaving college after this quarter and going to a CC for the rest of the year. do you think this will seriously hurt my chances of getting into USC for fall 2016?
@uschopeful2016 do what’s best for your health. As long as you try your hardest and explain to USC why you made the decisions you did, I would think they’d understand
I may take one of my classes P/NP this semester, but it doesn’t even transfer to USC. Will this make a difference, considering USC won’t even accept the class anyway?
@Probtransfer I remember reading the admission website and it says they calculate your gpa based on transferable courses. I might be wrong, but you should go check their website or email the counselors
@Probtransfer http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/transfer/admittedfall/transfercredit.html click on “determining your transfer gpa” For your situation i think it’s fine to take it as P/NP. I might be wrong tho.
@Probtransfer Just make sure it isn’t a major prep coursework or a GE class that you need.

USC doesn’t require the mid-term reports or the college reports, correct?
@topchoiceschool Correct
does anyone know approximately when decisions or spring grade requests will be sent out?
@badmintongirl it varies. could be from early April to late May i think for SGR/decisions.
Hey, can anyone share their experience with financial aid?
If there is any current students on this board
Just want to know. Despite my 3.8 things are def not guaranteed
@DanHuynhCA I was a spring admit and it seems like USC can be very generous. With what they initially offered me, my full tuition was covered as well as their mandatory medical insurance for students that are uninsured. Even after all that, I had enough extra to buy some books and even a new laptop for my classes. After everything, I was just stuck with the bill when it came to housing, but the subsidized and Perkins loans that they offered were going to cover that, but I didn’t find a place on campus and had to commute instead. Anyway, in my experience at least, USC can be pretty nice when it comes to covering stuff like tuition
@zettasyntax I’m just really nervous. Again, don’t even know I’m gonna get in but if so, my dad makes 100,000 per year. Prospects for aid are not good.
@DanHuynhCA Yeah, I know what you mean. I thought my 4.0 was for sure going to get me in my first attempt at transferring, but nope. It’s always good to stay hopeful though and I just think that I had a really awkward situation or maybe a very hard to please admission counselor My mom’s income is quite a bit lower than that and she is a widow, so I’m not sure what your aid package might look like, but for the most part, I still do consider them very generous if they were basically offering me aid that made it an equivalent cost to attending UCLA
@badmintongirl It could even go until late June. That will happen if they ask for an SGR and if you attend a quarter system college.
