2016 - Did anyone else get assigned an ID #

^they will when they email that decisions are online.

^
Same here

So, first step is waiting for some email to show up in the email boxes of the 60,000+ applicants today, is that right? Is this for real? Why has it been SO UTTERLY SIMPLE to check acceptance for the other UCs?

this is actually kind of simple. they gave you a release date. they’ll email you when it comes out. the email will give you a link if i recall correctly. and then you put in your info.

WAIT, if all this ID# stuff is bogus, then why on earth did the Admissions Office lady/guy who the OP called say that “as far as she knows, only admitted students get ID#s”? I mean, come on, if anyone should know, then it would be them right? And think about it this way:

The first admissions office person who was asked that question said, “Congratulations, that means that she is in!” (go back to the first page of this thread and read the whole page if you want to know what I’m talking about). And then the SECOND admissions officer actually got angry/annoyed when the poster told him about how he got that ID number. Logically speaking, if this number was completely random/pure bogus, the admissions officers wouldn’t have cared that people were finding out their ID numbers beforehand. They would’ve just told them that they were wrong and not said “congratulations” or gotten mad about it.

Also, there’s several people on this thread who do not have ID numbers listed. That can only mean that they were not admitted to UCLA. Why would UCLA bother giving them IDs if they can’t even attend anyway?

I think the different first three digits in the numbers have something to do with your major. If you guys could post your majors/the first three digits of your numbers, then that would help clear this up. I’ll go first:

804**** - Undeclared/Electrical Engineering**

GOOD LUCK TONIGHT EVERYONE! :D

804 - Engineering

Alrite, sounds to me like the first three digits ARE based off your major/general division (in this case, engineering). Hmmm, RyuBaka, did you get the likely letter? I didn’t.

804 - Undeclared/Biology

I didn’t :(

804… I think my sister is a Biology major. Or something related to biology, at least for sure.

I don’t know… Even at UCLA people might not exactly know how everything works. I mean, we assume everyone knows what’s up because it’s a great university, but eh…

oh LOL wait never mind… if 804 is for biology as well, then it has nothing to do with major. -__- Last names maybe? What letter does your guys’ last names start with?

804, psychology. Theory not valid. :P

I think I will go see what Stanford is doing. Yawn.

Rejected. UCLA ID meant nothing.

^same as above

@aninstance – believe me, amazing as UCLA is, the bureaucracy here is ridiculously complex and the websites are horribly designed.

i’m not checking till the 29th ( when all the other schools come out) because i don’t want to be depressed the next week but I tried logging into myucla and it just logs me out should i assume rejection?

To: rwscpa the original poster of this thread
"Did anyone else get their 9 digit new student ID # yet? We did. "

Thank you for starting this thread, as it was very helpful for my daughter and I. There WAS a little crack or loophole in the system, so I want to offer you my heartfelt thanks for sharing it with the rest of us. We followed the example you gave, and by using the generic UC ap id (for all the UC’s) log into the UCLA site, and follow the rest of the steps which led to her UCLA login ID. Once I saw that she had a UCLA id number, I felt pretty confident that she would be receiving an acceptance.

Tonight when we logged into the UCLA decision web page. We saw “Congratulations” and that same UCLA 004****** id that we had seen earlier in the day. So yes, we were another example of someone who could log in and see it earlier in the day — and got the official acceptance later tonight.

I’m also thankful to whoever posted the website for the UCLA decisions this evening. We still have not received any emails re: decisions posted from UCLA. Thank goodness someone posted the website where decisions could be logged into.
