And thank you so much for your feedback mrvc!! I really appreciate it.

I got denied for financial aid meaning cal grant and pell grant not for bu. I applied regular decision to bu!

Nyu I really hope we get in. Hopefully I’ll see you there!!

I’m in a similar situation. Great EC’s and recs and addressed my low gpa in my essay. All on a 4.0 scale
9th-2.6
10th-2.3
11th-3.2
12th- 3.7 first quarter/4.2 second quarter ( 4 AP’s and honors this year)
1900 SAT. 660 math 1 and 640 math 2. I applied ED to cgs and got deferred. Any feedback or thoughts would be appreciated

newyorkmydreams, thanks for clearing that up - I’m sorry that I misunderstood. Those are tough to get. Careful that you don’t get gapped at BU, meaning accepted with a huge gap between what it costs and what you need to meet that expense. Northeastern gaps for students even wider. If you’re coming from California, you are not going to like the weather. Fresh fruits and veggies are less available here, although there are a lot of eateries close to campus that feature micro organics etc. Going to the market at Faneuil Hall, downtown and walking distance from the City Hall stop, can be a great activity on a sunny and pleasant Saturday, for fresh food. If you like raw seafood (items of the half shell) they will shuck them right there for you and you can slurp them down. Sorry if that’s not appealing to you. Back to BU res. campus, the food service has slid in the last year - I found it to be outstanding back in 09-10. Best that I had seen and sampled back then after having been to 20+ schools. BU has recently merged housing and food service, which I think has not helped the quality of dining. Boston is a great place to go to school, and there is booming biotech construction (no fewer than 8 sites) in Boston and Cambridge. Largest tech building boom in the country! Good luck, Mr. VC

BU BU BU <3<3<3<3 please make my life and accept me!!!

BUgebs, While your rank is just about top third, it is a heck of a lot better than that for the last two years - huge GPA improvement - so your trend is up which is great! Teacher recs mean a lot to BU, so that will help. How was your guidance counselor rec? That can be the tour de force. If you have a good relationship with your guidance counselor, and know them they usually come through. You are in a pretty big class, so that may be easier said than done, depending on the student-guidance counselor ratio. BU also likes community service and has been touting their new program which recruits interested freshman, right upon coming to campus. I would be mystified if CGS did not offer you admission. And I’m not intending to be pejorative, by saying that. I still think you have a decent chance with SMG given your trend over the last two years. As you know, BU has received a lot of bad press lately, some muggings near campus last fall, two issues with hockey players and another player leaving the team so he could focus just on hockey (US junior team gold medalist Charlie Coyle a soph), the recent incident at the US border coming back from Canada where several students had drugs / illegal substances to include ecstasy, and a student getting groped/assaulted at the Mugar Library - that a lot of the campus doesn’t even seem aware of. My point, I believe a % of students that might otherwise choose BU, will go elsewhere - its not a huge % but to fill a school that size requires a lot of admits as BU’s yield is not exceptional. I’m sure the attorneys at BU are deliberating risk management strategies to employ which will include more admits than usual. BU is one of a minority of large schools that guarantees 4 years of housing(range of cost and quality), and they have housing inventory as well - unlike Northeastern last year, and how BU was back in my day, when they would over admit and put people in rec. rooms or local hotels, until space became available. Those students were called “Nomads” back then and were provided a t-shirt (scarlet & white) and labeled as such by housing, which they happily, if not proudly wore. (Any Nomad alums? Please reply) So if BU decides to admit more students to better manage in order to guarantee enrollment - they have the technology (housing inventory) to do so. BU tends not to worry about class size. I believe that you are going to make it. A group of students’ trip to Fenway should be in the cards for next August, or Sept., for you. Good Luck! Mr. VC

applefan9, Hmmmm? Good, trending up GPA. Good record of rigor with the APs, and your standardized scores are pretty decent, especially Math I & II - those are solid scores. Did you apply for financial aid? Did you get one of those announcements on the applicant link that invites you to call admissions about discussing your application, or changing your school? If you are thinking about calling admissions, send me a PM, I have a thought for you. Take care, Mr. VC

Mr. VC, I sent you a PM. Thank you once again for your help.
Also my SAT breakdown is : (720M, 580CR, 600W)

^Didn’t see this until now - the 720M will get you some great attention. Nice job! Mr. VC

BUgebs, we have very similar stats and qualities! I hope we both get in.

I hope we do too!!!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh so worried. If I get in, I probably wouldn’t go…

Yeah I was annoyed that over 100+ people applied… just makes the waiting process much worse

I wouldn’t be surprised if we heard back in Mid April lol

If I get accepted, I will consider it, but it just seems tooo big compared to the other colleges in MA. I mean, the T runs RIGHT through it

If I get in, I’m going!

I got deferred. BU is my dream school. SAT: 1620 (my score went up from previous attempts)
UW/GPA: 3.5 W/GPA: 4.2
I got all border line B’s in all of my classes this semester, so like an 89 in every class. All are AP classes and my GPA has gone down slightly over the years because of the increased difficulty.
Does anyone think that it will help anything if I get all A’s next semester and increase my SAT score again??
What about CGS? I applied to COM ED, but said I would consider CGS. My stats 3.4 GPA and 30 ACT fall right in (and slightly above) the CGS class profile. I understand why I wouldn’t be admitted to COM, but I wonder why I didn’t get in to CGS. Thoughts?
@Madison698, I think your GPA is good enough, but SAT score fell below average, might wanna boost your SAT score if u still can.
