should i be concerned if i havenāt been notified other than for moving up to districts awhile back? 
No I havenāt heard back either. They may still be judging. Depends on when each area is doing their judging.
Is it possible for a lodge to have just not advanced anyone? We had four applicants in total at my lodge and both my friend and I did not advance past the local level. Weāre a little peeved because we havenāt heard back from them at all and have been unable to contact them for the past two months. We also both have pretty decent resumes to back up our applications.
The Elks formula is posted online. Just google Elks Judging Pamphlet or something. It doesnāt matter if you have a good resume if you have any of the following: average test scores or GPA or essays or are middle class (or wealthier) or havenāt done significant community service/extracurriculars.
Any of those are likely to take you out of the running. Particularly average test scores or middle class+ income.

I really could not find any information of what a good score would be so I figured a 800+. In Michigan they had contact info for the state admin of the scholarship comp. on the inst. page. I contacted him to find out info when I could not reach the local lodge.
I estimate I had a score around 900-945. I made National Finalist and did not advance; but that grading scale is no longer used past the Finalist stage. Thereās another application.
@CourtneyThurston I know my parents make 200k+ but my other areas are strong so theoretically I could still get a 900/1000 on application even with a 0 on financial aid?
Additionally, I see you have been quite successful with scholarships. Iām having trouble finding ones solely based on merit. I made it to Semis in Coca-Cola but didnāt advance past then. Any recommendations would help.

@Klettinator you would have to have a perfect score in every single other category if you got 0 points in Financial Need. Which is astronomically unlikely even for top students. Did you get a perfect SAT or ACT score? If not, then your score will be below 900. And that doesnāt take into account how the graders assess other parts of your application ā the parts which are really mostly left up to their judgement, with some guidelines.
The vast majority of outside scholarships will have a need component. I did have financial need. Coke is the only major, solely-merit competition that I can think of.
Iām actually pretty concerned because if it says on the website that āThe first round of email notifications will be sent in mid-January, after Lodge judging is completed. District judging will be completed in late January, and State judging will be completed in mid-February.ā and I havenāt received an email yet for district judging? Does the national lodge send out emails for advances for district judging as well?
āAs your application proceeds through the judging process, we will advise you of its progress through email notifications. You should expect to hear from us again in early February.ā from the email telling you if you advanced to district
@mech423 is correct! Only a few posters have said theyāve received notification that theyāve advanced from districts - and their emails seemed to be from local emails not the national one - so there is no need to worry right now! The national email should contact us all soon!
Just got notice that I didnāt move past the district level via a national elks emailā¦ Not surprised but good luck to everyone else.

I talked to the national elks and they said that all notifications come out today and if you donāt get one just call them.
