@pomeranian4rich Thank you! I definitely think my essay is pretty solid, I was just hoping being little short on the word count isn’t going to hurt my chances. As for the supplements I’ve been hitting 250 on all pretty well. Then again I’m definitely sure USC would rather see a 500 word concise essay over a repetitious 650 word essay
If I drop a class without a withdrawal does USC see this ? I know it’s a dumb question since dropping with a W is clearly showed but I’m wondering about the drop in the initial stages of the class. And would USC care about it ? I’m currently taking a calc class in a 6 week accelerated class and it might be going to quickly for me.
@Pantafootball I would just ask your professor if it’ll show up on your transcript. If not, then they shouldn’t be able to see it.
@Pantafootball I’ve actually thought about the same thing long time ago. I think that USC will assume you haven’t taken the course yet and you plan to save it for a later date/semester. If you dropped the class without a W that means you dropped it before it even started, or a few weeks haven’t gone by yet. if you dropped it with a W it means you were in the class for a considerable amount of time and couldn’t handle the course load and inevitably dropped the course, then USC will assume that is the case. Otherwise I think they will assume you decided to save it for a later semester to take it and won’t base their decisions on that information. I have no evidence to backup my claim but I think that is how USC will see it.
I’m assuming you already submitted your transcript to USC already like I did and when they asked for a sgr they’ll see that you didn’t take calc in winter even though you have no W. I don’t think they’ll penalize you for “lying” or deceiving them. You should plan to take it in the spring to make up for it. Better to take an A in the spring than a B in the winter
Applying to USC for fall 2017. Did terrible in high school, got a 3.9 first semester taking 6 classes and will get all A’s this spring semester. How are my chances?
Also, it says two semesters of English are required. I took an advanced English my first semester that fulfilled both semesters of English I needed, will USC recognize this.
@balshii it depends on where you’re standing with units, GE completion, and major prequisites. GPA is not a good indicator without other info.
how does this look? my major is business admin
2 gen Ed business courses, both A’S
gen health course-A
microeconomics-A
college algebra-A
oral communications-A
Music theory-A
English- (advanced English that fulfilled both my semesters required at AACC)-B
I’m out of state so I’m having trouble figuring out what transfers. Thanks
I’ll have 32 completed units by and or spring semester.
end of*
As well as
Environmental science-A
Gen comp class-A
as far as letter of rec goes, should i let the prof know in the beginning of the semester that i want one? That i would like to transfer to a different school?
Not sure how to go about it since im asking them to help me leave their school…
and for the average amount of units completed for transfers ( i’m a freshman trying to transfer fall of sophomore year) is that referring to credits that are transferred over or just how ever many i have completed at my current school (going to UCI right now if that makes a difference)
@gottastudy54 they want an official transcript after you finished spring. Not midterm grades oh oops misread it. No don’t do that. Getting a letter of rec from a prof you barely know will hurt your chance and be an nuisance for admissions to read. They rather read something personal and not a generic letter of rec
@gottastudy54 it includes how many transferrable over so your transferrable unit might be below your actual units
How do I figure out what’s transferable or not? For our of state, the articulation agreement doesn’t help me much
Hey guys! I’m a freshman trying to transfer for fall of sophomore year and I’m just wondering how my chances are looking like…
Applying to Dornsife as Human Biology major
Units completed by spring: 38 (30 transferable)
GPA: 3.78
Transferable GPA: 4.0
Will have most GE’s completed by spring with one letter of rec from writing professor
@balshii that will be hard. but pull up your school catalog description course and usc’s and compare it to see if any there are similarities. I think that’s how usc will determine if your classes will transfer or not.
@pomeranian4rich thanks for your help. And they won’t look at HS grades if I have 30 transferable units by end of spring? Should I request for a SGR?
@balshii have you completed business calculus? You need that class in progress or completed by spring in order to be considered in the admission procress(for school of Marshall only) Without it your chance is 0% but I think they can offer you undeclared since you’re only a freshman
@balshii you don’t request for a sgr. They request a sgr from you lol. If they like you and want grades from spring semester then they’ll email or send you a mail.
