2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

When are hs transcrits and college transcripts due?

Guys I have a quick question! I completed my first fall semester of CC with a 4.0 GPA (Spanish 1, General Biology w/ Lab, US History , Music Appreciation , and English ). I am currently taking Sociology 1 during the winter (which I expect to get an A in). Plus I’ll be taking Psychology, Political Science, Spanish 2, and literature during the Spring. I had a 4.0 unweighted GPA in high school and like a 4.2 weighted. The only downside that’s holding me back are my SAT / ACT scores . My scores are mediocre. Do you guys think I have a good shot at getting into USC? I should also mention I am apart of TTP!

I am applying as a Dental Hygiene major. (The common app says “for Junior Transfers” only, however when I met with my USC counselor , she didn’t tell me that it was for juniors only) !

Feed back would be greatly appreciated guys! Thank you so much (:

@DirtyDonut because you’re on the TTP I shouldn’t worry too much. I believe the minimum gpa is a 3.5 and since you have a 4.0 in the fall you’re good to go. You’ll hear back first than anybody else probably in march/april.

What is the recommended number of GEs to have completed when applying?

I have 4 GEs and planning to take 3 more this semester. Is this a good number?

@stahboy lol There’s no magic number you’re suppose to complete. But the more GEs you complete the better.

@pomeranian4rich Okay thanks! I just see so many people worried about GEs so I thought maybe I needed more

@Skepta they are due by feb 1st. If you have 30+ credits done by the end of spring though, they don’t focus on your high school grades much. You don’t need to send any SAT/ACT scores by the way if you will have 30+ units complete.

Anyone here accepted to USC before but chose not to go but now want to transfer?

@pomeranian4rich thanks for responding ! I’m so nervous and hope I am accepted ! (:

Does anyone know if the yousc portal is still up?

does anyone know if we are allowed to explicitly state “USC” in our personal statement? it’s the only school I’m applying to so I’m just wondering if I can just state that it’s my dream school in that essay or if we’re just not supposed to state it

@moncc44 If USC is the only school you are applying to then it should be fine. Im definitely mentioning USC in mine

also, i know that if you have 30+ units by the end of spring semester they don’t check your high school grades or test scores. I go to a CSU and i will have 32 transferrable units but that’s in terms of how MY school counts credits. is that how USC would look at it? if that makes sense

@moncc44 it needs to be 30+ transferable credits. For example, I think I’ll have 33 or 34 credits total, but 32 are transferable, so those are the only ones that count.

Where does it say we don’t have to submit test scores if we get 30+ transferable units ?

@DirtyDonut in a lot of places, but those 30 credits have to be transferable

@moncc44 @DirtyDonut look for your school on this link. It should tell you what courses from your school will transfer. Make sure you have as little classes as possible (or none) that are listed in the table of classes that do not transfer. Obviously the more classes that transfer, the better. https://camel2.usc.edu/articagrmt/artic_hist_range.aspx

Do we send out transcripts along with our common app or do we wait for USC to ask for it?

@sc4589 send it with common app
