2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

@silvermansachs yes exactly basically get the best grades you can in the GEs oh and also she did point out the fact that for perspective Marshall students need to as a requirement finish English 1C and a calculus class. Since I’m taking business calc over the spring, she told me Usc would need to see my final grade in the class. So I’m assuming they’ll be asking me for spring grades. So guys who are in business complete those two essential classes and hit the GEs straight on!!

@Division1to100 because we all want to get into USC !! And be the 28% percent that get into a school with the largest networking opportunities in LA!

i currently go to nyu and i have a 3.2 gpa and i want to transfer to usc as a junior in the fall of 2017. I want to get into the viterbi school of engineering for computer science. Is it generally easy to get into USC for computer science or would I need a better gpa.

@ac5751 I wouldn’t say any of their schools are generally “easy” to get into, I would definitely try to bring the GPA up to at least a 3.4 if I were you… A large part of getting has accepted also has to do with taking the right courses, so I would use USC’s articulation agreement with NYU to find courses.

Hi guys!

I’m going to be applying to the Dornslife College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences, as a sophomore in the fall of 2017, possibly as a Psychology major.

I completed 12 transferrable units this summer, in 3 courses of GEs, and I plan on taking 4 courses (statistics, the writing requirement, and 2 GEs) in this upcoming fall quarter, which are worth 18 transferrable units. The major prerequisites for Psychology are Statistics, which I am taking, and Intro to Psych, which I can waive because of my score in AP Psychology. Does this mean that by the time I apply in February, I will have 30 units finished, and USC will not consider my high school grades? I scored fairly well on the SAT I (score of 2270), so I think I will send that score in.

Also, I will have to take the majority of my courses online for the fall quarter, due to my grandparents’ conditions which require me to stay home. Is that something that will be looked down upon by the USC admissions officers?

Hey guys! I was wondering if pass/no pass classes count towards the 30 units or community college classes I took during high school.

@travisscott90210 I’m not sure how much you have planned out already or if you’ve talked to your USC counselor about the Psych prereqs, but to my knowledge Intro to Psych is nearly impossible to transfer to USC, which leads me to believe that the AP class may not qualify. I could be wrong, but I would definitely recommend shooting that question to your counselor before you finalize your courses because otherwise you may want to add a course to pass that 30 credit line. Good luck!

@sat900 https://camel2.usc.edu/articagrmt/artic_hist_range.aspx this link has most of the policies on transferable classes to USC. Just search for your community college and you should be able to find your answers there. Good luck!

Hello everyone,
I just wanted feedback on what you guys think about where I currently stand. I am planning on applying for Business Administration or Economics this fall. I Currently have an overall 3.63 GPA.
Fall 2015- English 1A- A( 4 units) Math 180- B( 5 units) Sociology 101-A (3 units) Poli Sci 1- A( 3 units) Theatre 104-A (3 units)
Spring 2016- Macroeconomics- A (3 units) English 1B-A (3 units) History 102-A (3 units) Calculus 1- C (5 units)
Summer 2016- Anhropology 1- A (3 units) Chemistry 4- A ( 5 units)
So as I stand I have a 3.63 GPA. I am currently enrolled in 5 classes this fall semester in which I will be sure to get A’s in all but Calculus…
Fall 2016(predictions)- Calculus 2- A/B (5 units) Microeconomics-A (3 units) English 1C-A (3 units) Anthro 5-A ( 1 unit) Business 1A-A (4 units)
So, In conclusion if my best prediction comes through and I receive an A in Calc I will achieve a 3.73 GPA when applying as a Junior Transfer for 2017-2018. If the worst happens (fingers crossed that it doesn’t…) I will have a 3.64 GPA by the end of fall semester. I am sure it will increase to perhaps a 3.8/ 3.7 respectively by the end of spring 17 if they even care…
THANK YOU guys for taking your time to read about all my stress. I Wish you all the best of luck and can’t wait to hear your responses.

@uscdream19 are you using an articulation agreement to pick classes, or a transfer planning worksheet? Makes a big difference of whether or not some of those classes will transfer… Also, and unfortunately, from what I’ve seen USC will only accept the Econ classes as electives (maybe) because they’re supposed to be taken their. GPA-wise I think you’re fine, it’ll all come down to transferability with your courses, so good luck!

@uscdream19 Try talking to your local USC admissions counselor. http://admission.usc.edu/findyourcounselor.html

@penntousc it’s based on an articulation agreement in which all courses are transferable. Should have clarified sorry. Thanks I’m mostly nervous about my GPA as I will be hovering right on their average (3.7)
@ericeo sounds like a good idea… Thanks!

@uscdream19 yeah don’t worry about your GPA just do as best as you can and really really focus on your calc grade because if you do well in that, I think you’ll be fine. Plenty of transfers got in this past year with under a 3.7, and 3.7 was their recorded average transfer GPA from 2 years ago I believe

@penntousc thanks for your advice man. Yeah math is sadly my weakness but I won’t find an excuse… Thanks!

@uscdream19 you go to elco?

@silvermansachs i go to elco! Trying to get into Marshall as a sophomore!

@dogsAREsocool199 Haha awesome, good luck man. I’m trying to do the same except as a junior. Let me know if you have any questions! Already have 1 year of experience applying as a transfer. denied obviously lol (less than 30 units, id recommend getting 30 or they go all out on your high school/sat)

@silvermansachs I am shooting for 30 units! I took 8 over the summer ( all A’s) and now I am taking 18 units! { i know, I am crazy} And this year I heard they are doing a winter session before the spring semester, so I will finish the remaining 4 units during the winter before I submit my transcript to USC. I am soo scared, I NEED to get into USC! I will definitely keep in touch and good luck!

Hi friends! I’m a freshman in college taking my first year at a CC in Texas, and I’m hoping to apply as a sophomore into the SDA theatre program. I applied last year and was denied, so I’m hoping that by reapplying they’ll see that I have perseverance. By the end of my spring semester I should have just over 30 units, so hopefully it all works out!
