2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

@IwcWombat I’m sorry if this comes off as rude lol but I don’t think that shows bravery at all, more or less a slap in the face of the USC counselors reading your app… it’d be one thing if that was a question on the common app because they might consider that it was a mistake, but that’s on THEIR supplement… it’s like saying “yeah I’m applying to USC, but UCLA is my #1 so this is just an alternative for me”… not to mention that it’s their greatest rival in absolutely everything

@IwcWombat

There are a lot of things that could’ve been put in that space. So many things. Just…not that.

It takes very special circumstances to do something daring on a supplement. Isn’t there that story of an applicant to some top college that had an essay prompt asking “What was the most daring thing you’ve ever done?” and their entire essay read “This.”

@IwcWombat basically it’s better to come off as neutral when filling out a school specific application. What is your reasoning for putting that as your favorite website on the USC application?

For those of you guys applying for financial aid does it have an error under “eligibility checks - Program of study”?

Is there anyone here that is applying to Stanford in addition to USC? I feel like barely anyone is applying this year. I couldn’t find any Fall 2017 transfer threads for Stanford so I made one myself. I’m just curious as to how many people are applying to similar schools as each other lol

No offense but I think it would have been better to put a 18+ website instead of Ucla. But hey if you put UCLA to show bravery, I don’t think you really got that across.

@cassidylynnn , I think the same thing happens in the case of MIT and CalTech; they’re just so ludicrously selective that most transfer students don’t bother applying.

The applicants that I’ve seen accepted at Stanford are usually non-traditional students and/or veterans.

edit:(After reading your thread) Congrats on your acceptance to UMich though, you seem like a very qualified applicant! I’m sure you’ll have plenty of great options to choose from regardless.

@AGoodFloridian Yeah that makes sense. Thank you! Good luck to you; I hope that you get accepted to USC and the other schools that you’re applying to!:slight_smile:

@cassidylynnn I’m applying to Stanford too haha

Sent my transcripts before my winter grades were posted. Should I send them again once the winter grades are posted on my transcript?

How many GE’s by the end of the freshman year will put you in good standing if you want to transfer in as a sophomore?

@whooosh I think you should have 2-4 GEs completed but I am not sure. If you are a Viterbi applicant you are not required to have any, but more the merrier

anyone else super anxious about finding out? I wish they could tell us soon instead of taking until the end of the year

@cassidylynnn what major did you apply to Michigan and USC as?

@cc2LAuniversity Econ. Was going to do business admin because I actually have all the pre reqs done for that too but I just decided to do Econ because that’s what I applied to at all the other schools (UCLA and Stanford). I definitely didn’t apply to Ross at Michigan as a transfer because the transfer acceptance rate for Ross specifically is like 1% or something haha; plus, it’s a 3 year program regardless if you’re a junior or sophomore transfer and I don’t want to be there longer than 2 years because of how expensive it is for OOS tuition.

I think I made a mistake and admitted to my Reddit addiction in the supplemental question. I hope they have a sense of humor because that was the hardest question on the application.

@ReallyDoubtful I don’t think that’s a mistake, they’ll probably take it humorously

Sent my app in jan 20th and still havent heard about my decision… wtf???

Lol next few months will be brutal. (I think i have to ace most of my classes this semester to be a strong contender)
Best of luck from the midwest everyone!

Hi guys! I have submitted my application on January 30th, and I still haven’t received an email to register at the youSC portal. The thing is that I though since I applied to USC last year, I could use las year ID and log in, but no it did not work. Is there anybody who haven’t received any email from them yet?

@ReallyDoubtful I admitted my reddit addiction as well! There are dozens of us… Dozens!
