@lolscreenNam3 USC has a very unique transfer admissions process, so there are more boxes you’ll need to check than what you have listed:

-HS GPA and test scores won’t even be considered
-Dean’s list will not make a difference (since the avg. GPA for transfers is a 3.7, most people are)
-EC’s actually will not improve your chances of being accepted, but they will definitely help to show the counselors more of your personality and what you’re interested in

What you will need to make sure you have done to be accepted to USC Marshall:

-Completion of calc 1 or business calc equivalent
-Completion of two semesters of writing/composition
-With 70+ units, you would probably need to have all of, if not most of the GE curriculum completed
-I assume you’ve taken accounting 1 and 2, and they aren’t exactly necessities but as a junior applicant, I believe it would benefit you
-Last, and probably the most important, is to make sure that your courses are transferable and that you have done well in those transferable courses

With a 3.9 and a ton of credits, you’ll definitely be a competitive applicant as long as you’ve got most of, or all of what I listed above, and you probably do. Best of luck!

@stahboy I actually used to play VainGlory, it was pretty fun especially coming from LoL, the low level competition wno match for me lol

I put on my application that I’m taking physics class but it turns out it’s not gonna work with my moms new work schedule so I am going to drop it for a biology class. Problem is I already sent my transcripts in with the physics class in progress and all. My question is would it hurt my admission chance if I do go ahead and make the switch? And how would I even go about letting them know of the change?

I am applying for Viterbi and if I do make the switch to bio i would have all but 1 core GE done. This is my first year college but I have 23 units so far and 17 set for spring. So besides Calc 1 and 2, I didn’t take any other engineering classes. Would I still have a good chance to be accepted as my second choice (undeclared) or would that be a right out rejection?

Hello Guys,
I have a few questions about sending official transcripts. Under required documents it is listed that I must send my high school and CC transcript. My first question is whether you need to submit your high school transcript if you are a junior applicant with enough credits. Secondly, I was wondering how the process of sending in your transcript works. Online it says to upload or fax your file, however I will be picking up my transcript in person at my current CC. I don’t understand how we would have to upload our transcript since that requires us to open it which will no longer make it ‘official’. Thanks!

High school transcripts are required no matter what standing you are. For cc transcripts if you can’t electronically send them, then send them by mail.

@clrdfortakeoff since nothing that you list in terms of classes on your application is official, it really shouldn’t affect anything. If you’re only taking the lab science as a GE and as a prereq for Viterbi, I think you’ll still be fine with bio.

hey guys. im applying to marshall as a sophmore transfer and i know one of the requirments is 2 semesters of english. i was registered for english my second semester but teacher dropped me because i didnt make it to the first day of class. would usc straight up reject me for missing a second semester of english? couldi takr it at usc? could i take it in the summer at my cc?

@brianng it’s important to note that you need to have two semesters of writing or composition, unless that is what you mean by english… and yes, unfortunately there is a high probability you would get straight up rejected without having completed the writing requirement (they won’t accept it as a summer course because that’s too late). USC does make some exceptions for 4 year universities, but that doesn’t happen often and I’m not sure anyone knows exactly how that works. I’d recommend trying to get your professor to put you back on the roster, or trying to find the same course in a different time slot.

@clrdfortakeoff Thanks for the clarification… how do you submit them electronically without seeing them yourself? I don’t understand how that is still considered official if it is opened. Furthermore, does it show that they have received the transcripts under the required documents tab when you mail them in?

Hi, I electronically sent my transcripts, and got an email confirmation from my school that it successfully sent, but I don’t see it under my yousc recieved documents tab. Anyone else? Or should I wait a little longer?

@uscdream19 your school is the one that would send them automatically electronically (if your school supports it). I think most socal CCs send them electronically to USC, not sure about others. Safest bet is sending it to USC by mail TBH.

@penntousc but since I already sent in my transcripts saying that physics is in progress, how do I go about letting them know of the change?

I emailed my admissions counselor and I still haven’t gotten a reply. I also never got my YouSC email, so can’t do anything on there…

@clrdfortakeoff like I said, I really don’t think they pay much attention to which courses you say that you have in progress, because of how unofficial is. It’s actually optional to list the courses you’re taking. If you still really want to tell them that the course was changed to bio, keep doing what you’re doing. The admissions counselors are really busy right now, especially those who are assigned to regions in CA. I am a little surprised you haven’t gotten your YouSC email yet though, it’s been over a week.

@penntousc yeah I submitted my application on the 31st… still nothing.

I did apply from high school last year though, with the same email and that YouSC still works but it doesn’t show my current application or anything.

Mine still says they haven’t received my commonapp. Yuck.

I applied January 31st and I still haven’t received my youSC portal email. Anyone in the same predicament ?

@Orlando1997 there must be some sort of bottleneck in admissions because it seems like A LOT of applicants waited until the 30th, 31st, or 1st to submit… I submitted mine like a week ahead of time and got my YouSC the next day or two, so just wait it out and you’ll probably have it in the next couple days, or next week at the latest

It does seem weird that someone like me who applied within hours of the deadline received my portal and @Orlando1997 hasn’t

Hi there, I actually applied way back on November 20th when they were basically just starting to accept applications. Whether I sent electronic transcripts or had them sent by mail, they always showed up as received in my portal within a week - but I’m sure they weren’t as swamped with applications back then. I’ll be applying as a junior as well, and since I’ve completed over 60 units, they’ll be focusing on my college transcripts, but they did still want a copy of my GED as well as my high school transcripts. As far as electronic submissions, you have the college send your transcripts electronically directly to the school by PDF, so you don’t actually see them. Hope that helps.
