Hi you guys, I go to a four year and was planning on taking the writing course spring quarter since the equivalent courses have not been offered all year and are finally being offered spring. However, the class is completely full and my registration isn’t for weeks. How often do they actually waive the english requirement for 4 years and will this significantly lower my chances?
Also do we need to send AP scores to show some prereqs have been completed?
If I got an internship that relates to my major after I sent in my app is there a way to add it?
if we get into an honors program or accomplish some sort of achievement this month, is there a way to add that onto the application?
@moncc44 @chap97 In you.usc when you go to submit application documents -> Document Library, you can upload additional information. I assume that’s where you would put it?
When do they start posting acceptances?
@AGoodFloridian Khan Academy? You looking to get rejected lmao
When does USC start releasing decisions for the transfer students? anyone know?
Does anyone know when they let you know of SGRs? is it in late April?
@sat900 For 4 years, they told me that you should be taking courses as you usually would. On the other hand though, they also said having your English and Math prerequisites was super important. So…I don’t know. As for AP scores, Yes, send them now.
@alienman1234 Around late April, early May, most come in June I think
@Skepta Yes, more towards May though
@phoenix23 wow, really, june? isn’t that a bit late? end april would be more acceptable
No one is guaranteed a decision at any time before JUNE 1ST. By June 1st, all applicants will have either gotten accepted, rejected, or an SGR. Some will receive decisions earlier, but there is absolutely NO WAY of knowing who will and when they will receive them.
I feel as though I’ve seen a few things commented about the writing and math requirements too – IF YOU DO NOT HAVE MATH OR WRITING COMPLETED, EXPECT A REJECTION. They make some exceptions for 4 year students, but do not count on that.
I know everyone is getting antsy about the wait, because I am as well, but the majority of us 3.5 months left until we’ll receive a decision, and I’ve seen bunches of people ask questions that have been answered in here a million times. Asking us how to submit transcripts is a waste of time, considering some schools do it differently. You need to contact your advisor at your current school to get your transcripts sent. In terms of Honor Roll or Dean’s List, do not waste your time submitting those, especially if you’re at a community college. The average GPA for transfers is a 3.7, which is Dean’s List at just about every school. For example, I’m on the President’s List because of my 4.0, and I’m not even going to bother mentioning it because they will know already that I am with my GPA, and a high GPA is expected with transfer students.
The wait is going to be unbearable, as it already is, but I know a lot of you are either sophomores or just need to finish strong, so focus on the current semester so that when you send in those spring grades, you have no regrets. Good luck to all of you.
@CornellAEMplease :)) hahaha, no no. It does tie in with the overall theme of my profile. His mission does align with mine. I have a passion for teaching and would ultimately like to become a professor one day and as such I would love to see more outlets of free educational resources available for everyone, including students who come from disadvantaged backgrounds. The ones, like me, who didn’t have access to the best of education during highschool.
It’s a noble mission, I’d think, right?
@AGoodFloridian I’ll be honest, I thought you were being a kiss a** for putting that as your favorite website but if that’s the theme of your application and you talk about it in your essays, I definitely think it will look good. I’m willing to bet a lot of money that USC doesn’t get too many aspiring teachers or professors, so it should set your app apart from others. And it’s definitely a noble mission considering our public education system is trash and most inner city schools are terrible (which is a reason dropout rates are high and level of education in the city is so low). A (not really) funny example of how bad it is: my sociology professor from the fall semester actually was able to get a teaching job at an elementary school in Philly at 19 YEARS OLD… she had no qualifications at all and was just looking for experience and money, no degrees or anything. So yeah, now that you explained that I actually think your app will stand out, if that means anything. Good luck!
@penntousc , Oooooh so that’s what @CornellAEMplease was hinting at hahahah
I have no idea really how Khan Academy is viewed here in the US, my highschool years were in a different country where public education is in pieces, as were the schools(literally). There were times that my chemistry teacher didn’t even show up for class, for MONTHS at a time. No subs either so, you can imagine how the classrooms got with idle kids and no teachers in sight. To top that all off, I couldn’t even speak the language of the country in beginning.
So in essence I had to teach myself the things I couldn’t learn in highschool. And guess what free educational resource I used? :))
And that is such a depressing story dude… Here’s hoping that Betsy DeVos can…you know. help? Right?
Do you think they are picky with which 6/8 GEs you have finished? I will have all 6 out of 8 done except for the biology and physic GEs.
@usc4ever nope no need to worry. Just complete what you want
Transfer admissions is a million times more agonizing than freshman. Schools are so vague with decision dates, and my top two choices have totally incompatible decision and commitment dates. Hang in there, everyone.
My youSC portal is really weird under received documents it’s showing like 30 items that I haven’t even send in yet. Also since I am an international transfer student who is my counselor, the one responsible for my country or the one responsible for my school (I emailed both but no answer).
@arsenalforever my portal looks the same! Some things are listed several times, and they say they have some things I haven’t submitted.
