Yankeesfanatic,

How do you know this? Or is that simply a guess

Quoting myself from post #39 of this thread:

It’s technically a guess. But a very educated one. ;)

(Don’t hold me to this and get mad at me if I’m wrong)

yea, I turned everything in time but received a postcard like a few others. I hope we all get accepted!

My son also got the FA Letter from Lehigh and not a postcard. I wonder if there is a difference between the two?

I called Lehigh when we got it and they said they sent out 2,000 financial aid notifications on Monday to people who had items missing. I am just wondering why some got postcards and others got letters.

@SVMmom yeah I also got a letter. Now Im kinda like … which would be better to recieve? A letter or postcard?

@InLoveWithLehigh: I applied to IBE Honors with Business Focus.
@barcelotina: did you guys apply ED or were you guys selected for Diversity Event?

and yea I got a postcard from Lehigh for FA stuff. I don’t think the letter or postcard has any significant hint on our application lol (we might just be looking too much into this)

Haha thats what I think. I think were all just microanalyzing every single thing. I mean we’ll know soon enough.
Im just kinda like ehh because people with lower stats than me got invited to diversity weekend bleh :p

Do your fa letters have a student iD anywhere on the letter?

You guys are definitely overanalyzing this all! Being accepted to the Dversity weekend doesn’t mean you’re a stronger candidate and as such, not being accepted doesn’t make you a weaker candidate - it’s the luck of the draw.

Second, I got a financial aid letter, not a postcard, saying that I’m missing items and have already been accepted ED1. They do not send out letters and postcards as an indicator of who they like / don’t like. I know this is nerve wracking, but don’t worry so much!

But why would they have 2 different types of correspondence? Why not all letters or all postcards?

Well, I can only speculate, but it could be that since postcards are, or at least seem, more personal, the school tries to send out as many as possible. However, they also may take longer to prepare or could even cost Lehigh more money. When they’re in a time crunch (or perhaps have a tight “postcard budget”), they may then only do as many postcards as they feasibly can. This is obviously just a thought.

Another could be that one or two or three particular admissions officers prefer to send out postcards while the rest prefer letters. Again, this is just my opinion.

My guess, and only a guess, is that there is no significance to how they contact us regarding FA information. I see here the mention of postcards and letters, but our contact informs us via e-mail, in fact did twice recently, one being just last Friday.

Good luck everyone!

Not sure what is contained on each, but is it possible that the postcards are general reminders and the letters go to people who are missing key and specific items?

My understanding was that financial aid was separate and distinct from the admissions process, so I’m not sure there is any link between being contacted by the financial aid department and whether you were accepted at all.

Ugh so nervous! I hear from so many schools this week.
Ucsb, ucla, bucknell, villanova, possibly michigan and possibly lehigh.
Eeeek

It seems unusual to be the only family getting e-mails, in fact we just picked up an e-mail thanking us for the financial aid info that we sent on line over the week-end. I really think it has to do with who is handling one’s information, and maybe ours is one who likes to deal via internet.

Regardless, I believe every student, including this student, will end up where they should be and not to worry!

I remember that time when my son was waiting, I think April 1st 2010 was possibly the worst day as most of his school’s posted that day. He did not get into several of his top choices and was crushed. Now he sees he ended up at the best place for him - Lehigh, and wouldn’t change a thing.

Good luck everyone and I know it sounds hollow now, but if you are not accepted at a school you love, you will be at another and it will have been meant to be.

Has anybody considered tweeting at the Lehigh dean on Twitter?

I received both the postcard and the letter so I’m just going to attest to mumof2boyz’s speculation that postcards are reminders and the letters are the requests for missing documents.

There’s a reason that colleges release their admissions decisions on a specific day. They don’t actually try to hint their applicants as to whether or not they have been accepted ahead of time. You guys are absolutely overanalyzing it.

However, Lehigh2017, I do find it a bit hypocritical of you to tell everyone that they are overanalyzing everything. Need I remind you that you were the KING of over analyzation back in November and December.

Lehigh is not an easy school to get accepted to, especially regular decision. However, the only things as of now that you can use to guess whether or not you will be accepted are your GPA, SAT, essays, etc. FA letters and anything you have received up until now, save actual letters of acceptance, are obviously not associated with your ultimate admissions decision.

BE RATIONAL, PEOPLE!!!
