This thread has been inactive for the longest while, so I thought I'd just leave this here to revive it.

I applied RD weeks ago and the wait is killing me! Does anyone know when we can expect to hear from Skidmore? And has anyone heard anything from Skid, besides the "thanks for your application" email?

I hope they release the decisions earlier. On last years RD thread, decisions were mailed on march 23 so hopefully it’s around that time or earlier for this year.

In addition to Skid, I applied to Brown, Oberlin, Reed, St. Lawrence and Macaulay Honors. It’s a small list, I know lol.

Yea same here, I wish I had applied early somewhere because this wait is killer.

I’ve transformed from a once-passive email and mailbox checker to someone who checks them constantly throughout the day, to make it even worse its not even close to when decisions normally arrive from colleges. Sigh it’s a long road ahead before I can see my admission decision on the horizon

The same happened to me, dude, we gotta chill out a bit or this anticipation is gonna kill us  .

I just got an email from Gettysburg that they extended their ED II deadline to February and now, honestly, I have no idea what to do. Apparently chances of admission are considerably higher, but on the other hand, Gett wouldn’t be my first choice. Not even one of my favorite 5 (out of 14). Then again, I have no guarantee I will be admitted to any of the other 13 colleges. cor blimey…

My advice would be to not apply ED if getty isn’t your top school or if it’s not at least your second choice, because like you said you might get in ED so can you see yourself forgetting all the other schools you applied to and being happy attending Gettysburg

Uhm does Skidmore provide any way to check my application status online? I mean besides the confirmation email, I haven’t received anything from them.

42% increase in applications!!! 0.0 oh wow it seems skidmore may have picked up the “no supplement essay” kids that Boston College missed this year haha

How do you guys feel about this change, are you more worried about your chances given the larger applicant pool?

Yea you and me both. But remember the data just shows an increase, it doesn’t give any insight into the caliber of students which make up this years applicant pool. I’m waiting to see what skidmore has to report on this before I can really start worrying.

Just a random comment: I’m not at all surprised by the surge of applications, especially those of internationals, at Skidmore. Skidmore is on two lists that makes it especially attractive for students: USNews’ A+ colleges for B students, and most generous colleges to international students. However, intl students misinterpret Skidmore’s ostensible generosity. Only about 15-20 international students attend with aid each year, and many of them are UWC students who get amazing aid just because of the high schools they attend. This will be an especially tough year and only top students will get in, so that B student rating is likely to disappear pretty soon now.

I can say with certainty that some students will have a better chance at getting into Williams than at Skidmore this year :)
