2018 - 2019 USC Transfer

I double checked both the common app and my email, and my writing supplement was definitely submitted.

For some reason, my portal says that I’m missing my USC writing supplement, however, on common application, it said that it has been submitted successfully. Do any of you have similar problem

after i log in and click on the application status thing it says we have received your application and supplemental application

i created a you usc account before i submitted the common app (just submitted last night) but my portal still hasn’t changed from a perspective student to a student who has applied. any ideas on if/when it’ll change?

@laneline give it some time

Submitted my application like 10 minutes ago. What a relief!

Best of luck everyone.

I am afraid that you won’t be able to take it in summer. This is what USC says:

Thank you for your interest in Marshall. Unfortunately, the Calculus & English prerequisites must be completed by the end of Spring semester. These are two mandatory courses that are required for all transfer applicants to complete by the end of their final semester at their respective colleges before potentially transferring to USC. On the other hand, GE courses can be completed over the summer. Below is information that you may find helpful.

Prerequisites for Admissions to USC Marshall:

Admission to the USC Marshall School of Business requires the completion of the following two prerequisites:

        -WRIT 150/140/130 (English Composition II)

-MATH 118 or higher (Business Calculus)

@Vincent1997 I am transferring from a 4 year institution though, and I read that because my school urges its business students take a particular math course my school offers (half semester probability, half calculus), I could still be considered.

But according to what you are saying, there goes my chances.

I mean, I did put a second major option down (International Relations), so maybe they’d consider me for Dornsife… But my essay was about Marshall.

I mean I asked this question (about the Calculus course) on here, and no one told me anything along those lines as you mentioned. Neither did my research. I did take Calculus I during my senior year of hs… I don’t know. I just do know I feel uneasy now.

Could they offer me admission as “undecided” for now? And if I could Calculus at USC my first semester? Ugh!

And just to specify, the Calculus portion of my math course covered the following:

-Algebra II Review (Exponent rules and what not, inequalities, factoring polynomials, graphing inequality polynomials)
-Limits
-Tangent Lines and Derivatives
-Differentiation Formulas
-More Derivatives
-Graphing Polynomial Functions
-Optimization
-Indefinite Integral
-Definite Integral

I mean, it did cover quite a bit… And I did a whole Calc I course in high school… I am still crossing my fingers.

My course seems to have covered everything USC’s Math 118 covered… Plus the Math 117 pre-req for 118…

Actually you could be ok being you had it in high school, might depend if it was straight up Calc or an AP Calc, not sure. Math 118 is business math, so it is certainly “calc light” compared to other Calc courses.

btw, the calc and writing requirements are on the first page that came up when I googled, “Transfer to Marshall USC.” The math and writing requirements are about half way down the page.

For any future transfer applicants, USC tells you exactly what to do for your best chance at getting in. If they say to have certain core courses complete, that is more important than a GE.

The resourses USC has for tranfers is insane…they have has weekly meetings on Tuesdays about transferring, transfer days you can plan around for a visit, road shows and a comprehensive Transfer guide, plus tons of info like the page linked here throughout their website. Connect with your area’s advisor. There are articulation agreements giving course equivalents. For your best chances transferring, read what they want, then do it. They make what is expected very clear.

What I posted was a direct quote from an email that USC had sent me. My girlfriend had the same question as you and that is what they answered.

what’s up everyone! i have a question regarding the YouSC. I thought i need to be sent an email to register? or i can just create an accoyunt without it?
P.S. submitted my common app and writing supplements on 31st and havent received an email regarding YouSC yet.

Hey guys. I’m a freshman in penn state and are applying for the fall 2018 as a sophomore.

My Current GPA is 3.95 (19 credits), and I’m taking 16 this semester, probably gonna get a 4.0.

HG: a private HS in NJ, accumulated GPA is around 3.8, dont remember the exact number.

Sat: 1410/1600

I asked two of my professors to write the letter of recommendation. I think they like me, cause I really did ask a lot questions.

USC’s always been my dream school. I applied once and got rejected last year, lol. This time I really put in some effort, and I’m so hoping that I can get in!

Good luck to you all!

@bantisz It’s only been a few days. It usually takes 1-2 weeks for the e-mail to arrive. Don’ worry.

@CADREAMIN Do you know if I can request to send them the textbook my course used? I am pretty sure the class I took would meet USC’s Math 118 requirement when comparing material covered. The main reason why I am transferring is because of the lack of rigor (and a health diagnosis that held me back from even going to a school away from home), and it leaves me appalled that a Business Administration major (with a concentration in finace) does not require a solid math foundation. They “highly recommend” we take this math course I took. Anyways, I digress. Let me end my rant lol.

I am just shocked they don’t even allow you to take the course over the summer. Like geez.

im still not able to log into my yousc portal. can anyone tell me if they are able to? im not sure if its technical difficulties or not

I believe that’s only for the core requirements, which is only a few and should be completed if you are planning to transfer. Recommended classes such as GE’s I believe are allowed to be taken in the summer.
