@gearsekandou Still a ridiculous policy regardless
@aznboi4981 I am applying to 10 Universities and none of them accept summer classes for your core prerequisites. Just contact them yourself and maybe they can you special consideration. If your school doesn’t offer a calculus class, that would help. If they do offer it, but you simply didn’t take it … who knows.
@Vincent1997 As I said, as I look closer into USC’s Math 118, my course covered most (if not more) of the material their course covers. I am wondering if I could submit the textbook to them to see if they’d approve of the class. And in my additional statement, I explained this math circumstance anyways since my school “highly recommends” we take the course I am speaking of at my school if you are a business major. It blatantly says it on the four-year plan. And I was not looking to transfer at first, and I took this math class during my first semester of my freshman year (not planning to transfer at the time)… I am hopeful they’d accept this course though.
They would certainly not want the textbook. Perhaps an email to your advisor explaining what’s up - that you believe you course meets the requirement of 118. Does your school have an articulation agreement with USC?
@CADREAMIN I remember my brother had to send a textbook to one of the schools he applied to a few years back,
which is why I mentioned sending the textbook in. The textbook was created by a professor at my school, so I am not sure if they can find any information on it on the web.
But yeah, I found my advisor, and I will definitely email her. I was looking at the agreement earlier, however, there was not much information included on the agreement.
By the way, I found this articulation agreement link, which includes more than just California schools: https://camel2.usc.edu/articagrmt/artic_hist_range.aspx
I am sure it would help a lot of you!
Does anyone know how the timing of decisions works? The faster they receive all your information, the faster your decision comes through? I sent my HS transcript out about a week ago, wish I had done it sooner. My HS doesn’t offer electronic delivery so it might take a while for USC to receive it.
I know USC marks applications as late but is there any chance of acceptance with a late app? I have 3.92 for background.
you submitted the common app late or some of the supporting materials? I know that they don’t care very much about the supporting materials being late
Hey everyone! I’m applying to transfer from a big state school, I’ve actually taken the semester off so I’m not in school. Browsing through this thread I noticed that a lot of people here are applying from community colleges, do they get special consideration? Or is everyone considered the same regardless of what school they are coming from?
@aznboi4981 Maybe the syllabus of the course would be more helpful. After transferring, I’ve heard of students trying to get credit for courses that didn’t originally transfer; they basically tried to show that the course was equivalent by showing the content that the class covered and used the syllabus as proof. I don’t think the textbook would be helpful at all as there’s no way to know which sections/how in-depth the class explored each chapter - even if the text was written by a professor at the school.
@dddaaaa250 California community colleges do get somewhat of a priority and a decent chunk of transfer students do come from these schools. I wouldn’t say they get an advantage though - and if there is one, it’s likely not significant. I met a ton of transfers from Texas at my orientation. It was pretty crazy how many people were from Texas
@aznboi4981
I will see you and raise you one
Here is another articulation link - there are several - I think this is the best one, and it comes from the the Transfer Planning Guide and I always preferred this one, it has the most comprehensive list of CCs. For some reason, some of those other links don’t have all of them…should have sent this first rather than the other one.
@zettasyntax I located the syllabus, and it’s not “that” in-depth, but it shows the homework assignments we did for every single section of the textbook, therefore, demonstrating we covered everything. I sent an email to my advisor, and I included an outline of everything covered in the course. Thanks for your input!!
@dddaaaa250
At a UC school, a CC has an advantage because CCs are made to be feeders for those schools. They are part of the CA state system. My guess is that is what you are thinking about. But since USC is a private school, it is in no way tied to them, but as @zettasyntax said, they do get many applicants from CCs, particular in Socal. So what you will find is that they have more thorough articulation agreements with the popular CCs where a lot of applicants come from, and by shear number of applicants from those schools more may be accepted, but no, you are not at a disadvantage.
@dddaaaa250, @zettasyntax
Since USC is a private institution, every applicant has the same chances to get into the school regardless of which college they are attending a the moment. The only thing that matters is your academic and extracurricular performances.
California Community College students only have an advantage on the articulation agreement, which helps them find classes they need to take easily. Other than that, they are the same applicants as me and you guys. So dont worry about that. Best of Luck eberyone!!!
Hi guys. I have a question. USC said that they will not look at SAT scores if you have more than 30 credits . I took 13 credits last semester, and I’m taking 17 credits right now. So, I do not have to submit my SAT or ACT score right ?
nvm I figured out how to get to yousc lol
hey guys, I applied to USC out of high school and made a yousc account in the process. On the website, it’s telling me to register with the same email I used on the CommonApp, but when I try to register for a new account, it doesn’t let me. Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated!
Try forgot password, you probably already have an account set up and don’t realize it.
@CADREAMIN it worked! thank you!
I’ve been looking at some other threads for USC and it seems like people were getting their decisions in the first few weeks of april. Just about a little over two months away! I just wanna wish everyone the best of luck and remind everyone to work hard if youre taking spring courses right now just in case they ask for spring grade request. Good luck you guys, I hope every single one of us receives good news
