I just finished up my last semester at community college and I have a gap year until I can apply for 2018. I finished all major prerequisites and igetc and I’m wondering if it is better to take more classes or not take any.
Check assist, or any of the college’s websites you’re choosing for your chosen major to see if there’s any recommended courses, if you haven’t done so already.
I’ve also completed all recommend classes.
If you have more than 60, up to 70, you will be able to take less at a UC. I had 66 and it’s saved me two courses at Cal. I didn’t think much about it at the time, BUT I’M SURE GLAD NOW!
I’d talk to a UC counselor JUST TO MAKE SURE-- And then like @Ohm888 said, take anything else that will help because it’s faster and cheaper
Also-- do you have a 4.0 gpa?
If not you can use this time to take easy classes and boost it
Well since I don’t have classes that I “need” to take do you think admissions would not like that I didn’t take classes for a whole year? Should I just take easy intro classes to boost my gpa? I’m not a math major but I’ve considered taking more high level math for a minor, but taking those would drop my GPA. Would taking more math be a risk or would admissions not care since it’s not my major?
My GPA a 3.5. With easy classes I can get a 3.7 but hard classes would drop me to 3.2~3.4
I would not take math if it will lower your GPA. Although you could take P/NP. Just take 2 courses a semester. I would suggest related to your major or maybe an intro CS course or biz course if you don’t have any.
Also, maybe see if you can get any internships, volunteer opportunities, or something related to your major, or join any clubs.
