2019-2020 USC Transfer

@vousmeuerz Oh, I didn’t mean to come off as rude. Sorry if I did. What I was trying to get across what that with your gpa and and the requirements you’ve done so far I honestly think you have a really strong chance of getting in.

@1DGAFCKK I put my stats because I’m applying as a sophomore and I was worried how much it would affect me if i only had 29 units versus the other person who was applying as a junior.

When do dornsife majors for transfer usually hear back?

Finally got my noncustodial parent to fill out the CSS Profile today. My GED certificate was also sent out today through snail mail. Those were the last two things that I needed for admission and financial aid! :smiley: I am hoping to be part of the select group of non-TTP students who gets in by late March. Finding out on my birthday would be nice. :wink:

How would editing or adding new experiences and awards after you submitted on the Common Application work? Also, if you listed something on your Resume but forgot to on your Common Application, is that inconsistency going to be impactful?

Also, I plan on emailing them about a technical issue I had submitting my CWS for Interactive Media this week. Depending on their response, I might send it to them in a later submission. Should I either do that, or save the game for an appeal?

@StipendAwarded It does not matter if there are differences between the experiences on the Common App and the ones on your resume/CV. I would use the resume to include additional experiences that are NOT already on the Common App, or to go more in depth about experiences that you did include on the application.

My counselor emailed me today and asked me to send her a scanned PDF copy of my GED certificate. Sent that to her, so at least I know they have a copy. The physical copy that I had sent Friday should arrive within the next few days too.

They also updated my financial aid portal and confirmed that they received the noncustodial CSS Profile. :smiley: They can now begin reviewing my financial aid profile. Woooo!

Hi, I just wanted to know my chances as a transfer. I will be a sophomore next year and am applying to Marshall with the College as my second choice. I am currently at a top 50 private university in the business school with an undeclared major. I had a 3.85 GPA first semester, and I’m in a bunch of clubs on campus. Had pretty decent essays and letter of recs. High school GPA was 3.7, and SAT was 1450. Never applied to USC before and submitted my stuff on 1/23.

Has anyone done or know if an online course with StraighterLine transfers into USC? I’ll be a sophomore next year hoping to get accepted in Marshall but my current college doesn’t offer calculus (prerequisite). I’m hoping taking this online course would be okay. Thanks regardless and good luck!

I am in a little dilemma with a few things in the common app application to USC

First,
I submitted my high school AND college transcripts via my college’s electronic method. I did not submit my transcripts to the common app. Is this a problem? Was I supposed to submit through the common app?

Second,
I switched up my professional and academic letters of rec. Do you recommend contacting admissions or just leave it? What would I even say to admissions

Thanks for the help

@ivctransfer99 When I contacted my counselor a couple weeks ago about the transcript issue, she told me to just send the transcripts directly to USC. Do not worry about verifying your college transcripts via the Common App. I do not know how to respond to your second concern though. Anybody else have suggestions?

@ivctransfer99
@vegastransfer on it for transcripts, not needed on CA, when sent to them. Frankly, I would not worry about switching the recs around, they will see your file as a whole and that is one of those nit picky things that wouldn’t make a difference. Don’t think it’s worth pointing out that you made a mistake.

@ivctransfer99 I don’t think it matters.

I went on the USC subreddit, and I was told if I had issues submitting my CWS (which I wanted to be a game but instead sent just one picture) for SlideRoom, I should contact them ASAP. What I want to do is wait for the decision and if it is a rejection submit the finished game (publish it on my own) as part of my appeal. What should I do?

Also, the Common Application said that you can add new experiences after submitting but not edit existing ones. How will that work? Will they have time to read any updates?

When would we find out about our decisions??

Hi,
Does anyone who sent your college transcript and still see awaiting on your admission portal?
I sent my college transcript and high school transcript about a month ago but they got my high school one but not the others.

On the Common App, I included the classes that are in progress. This included Winter (will send in updated grade via another transcript) and the current Spring semester. However, my schedule of classes for this semester has changed and I can’t go ahead and change it on the app. I did find on USC’s site that in order to make changes to an already submitted application, I would have to submit a request via email. What I am wondering is if this looks ok - that it doesn’t look bad or unfavorable during the application review process? I mean… students change/add/drop classes all the time within the first week or so of the semester. Any thoughts on this?

@hkiiim All of my stuff shows as received. It only took about a week for the transcripts to show up as received in my portal. I would contact your counselor and ask him/her if they received anything.

Will having an “easy schedule” and a 4.0 hurt my chances? I took GEs cause my TTP counselor told me to and to stay away from major prep courses like economics
