2019-2020 USC Transfer

I’ve been on this thread for a long time, and have found it very helpful and reassuring. I want to thank all the contributors for supporting those of us who are trying to glean any information about the status of our application. My son was offered TTP last year and we have followed the requirements to the letter. Non-legacy but high scores. Our family is in agony right now waiting for this important decision. USC is my son’s dream school and while crushed last year, the TTP was a ray of hope. So, I thought I would add his stats to the conversation so that I can help future applicants. Here is hoping we all hear ASAP!

  1. No grade request this semester
  2. Freshman
  3. TTP
  4. 1st semester 3.78 at 4-year school
  5. SCA - Cinema and Media Arts or undeclared then transfer

…wow, still no news…anyone?? Hello??

Decisions this year:

  • a bit late compared to prior years; or
  • this thread is not as popular as in prior years; or
  • ya…

I know - Just patiently wait and do something constructive.
I know - decisions could go until summer.
I know.

TTP Parent (just waiting)

question: what is ttp? Is it a california thing? I’m in AZ.

For some people, when they applied from Highschool and were rejected, USC gave, in the rejection letter, a program (TTP) that helped them get in if they wanted to transfer.

whoops for some reason I never sent in my high school transcript until now. I guess I though I didn’t need to because I had over 30 units in college coursework. I sent them now. they emailed me february 25 on a email i barely use to send the high school grades. have i just killed my chances? even with a 4.0 GPA with requirements and 6 GE’s completed? and as a TTP student?

i think you should reach out to them. or make a call

just did, they said it is still on time, because I submitted my common app and writing supplement on time. however they said they can’t review it, therefore i guess i have to wait longer for my decisions? either way it still sucks

No news from anyone still?

@bwko18 when I gave them my high school transcript I was also over 30 units. they just look at it to see the graduation date cause they have to have that confirmed. you should be fine in my opinion.

when do we start hearing back??

My daughter was like this last year. Although got higher than average scores, I guess she never really sent her official transcripts to USC. She received her acceptance letter at the end of May with conditions (need to verify transcripts) listed.

I took a look at previous years and saw decisions were usually posted at the end of april, WHY do we have to wait a whole extra month?

Many got posted throughout April as well and some end of March in past many years, it is definitely later this year, and/or with all the other outlets, maybe less post on here these days… But even if they post elsewhere, that info tends to make it’s way over here. So idk, but to have no results posted in late March or by now is certainly different. April 10th-ish give or take a couple days we have seen a surge - but heck, who knows this year??? Hate to set any kind of expectations, I know it is agony/stressful/awful waiting and waiting.

@DDHH2017 what school, im in the same boat, astronautics and mathematics

@fastestbigguy Cal Poly SLO electrical engineering

Most decisions will be posted by the end of April or anytime in May. Some applicants will hear back in June or even July (even with no Spring Grade Request). One of my friend who applied last year heard back in early July with no SGR. He got in and he is a junior now.

Also, I find a trend that the stronger you are (GPA, recommendation letters, essay, etc), the earlier you will hear back.

If you get an SGR this month or May, your decision will most likely come out in June or July.

Also, most rising sophomore applicants will get an SGR, but most rising junior applicants won’t. This is because rising juniors have more college academic record than rising sophomores. Rising sophomore’s one semester of college coursework is not enough for the USC admission to make a decision unless the applicant has a very strong high school record and first semester freshman year record.

Best of luck! By the way, I am a Marshall applicant.

Thanks for the info!!!

So let’s fix some things:

It is NOT true that stronger applicants hear first. So the 4.0 that heard in May is weaker than the 4.0 that heard in April? Uh ya, ok. Wow. Not true in any regard or in any trend - nada, zip, not true. Comical yes, true, no.

It is NOT true that most sophomore’s will get an SGR, many of them had stellar high school records are coming from other top schools and will be admitted by providing their first semester grades only and never be SGR’d.

Many will be admitted in April as always, some were in late March (including sophomores). Others in May then the stragglers in June/July as they fill up the schools that have openings. SGRs find out later depending on when they get their grades in and what system they are on, it is not always June or July, but places/spots can be held for them. It can be earlier and often is. One frequent poster last year got an SGR then admitted the next day before he had sent SGR in. It is not all one size fits all.

They also frequently admit by schools, again not by the strongest applicant first, that is just silly.

Misinformation really stresses applicants out and not sure the purpose of saying it over and over again.

I’m so tired of reading these notifications I just want to get my acceptance or rejection letter ugh I hate waiting

I would like to restate that when I called my admissions councilor, they confidently said (without me even asking) that no regular transfer (not sure about TTP applicants) would be released till May and after. I HIGHLY recommend to find something else to preoccupy your mind because it’s gonna be a long wait till then.
