2019-2020 USC Transfer

Hopefully that makes you guys sit a little easier as you wait for your response. If you worked hard and did everything required from you, then you have already proved that you belong there you really shouldn’t stress too much.

@atldreamer4 Thank you for your effort in explaining the admission process so well. You addressed everything that applicants need to know to be competitive.

I am a little bit worried since I am missing the first writing class and I have two 2 WP. Basically I dropped two classes in freshman year because I might get a “B” or “B+”. I retook them in sophomore year and got “A” in both. I know, this is insane.

Also, I only took 25 units (12+13) in freshman year. I caught up in sophomore year with the first semester of 18 units and the second semester of 16 units. So in total, I will have 62 units including AP. Do you think that I am still competitive?

My stats:

GPA: 3.71
College transferring from: a top 50 university in California
Pre-reqs: Business Calculus (A), Microeconomics (B+), Macroeconomics (AP credit), missing the first writing class but I was told by my admission counselor that it is okay for transfers to take both English classes at USC in order to graduate (although not preferred). I took more GEs to compensate. I am missing the first USC writing class because my school does not offer it and our English 101 won’t transfer (even though I took it and completed with an “A-”). I spent my freshman year summer interning so I did not take it at a CC.
Other major classes: Financial Accounting (A), Business Statistics (A), Organizational Behavior (currently taking but most likely it will be an “A”)
GEs: missing the science classes and maybe one or two more GEs depending on how many of my GE classes would transfer
Recommendation letters: 2 quality letters: one from my stats professor and one from my public speaking professor. I got “A” in both classes. I know both professors very well. I stayed after-class for extra help and just for getting to know them better every week.
Tips: If you are applying for Marshall, you are strongly encouraged to get “A” in major pre-req classes, especially in Business Calculus. I see most past USC admits got “A” or “A-” in Business Calculus.

For other major pre-reqs such as accounting and business stats, the more “A” or “A-” you earn the better it will reflect on you. Do not stress out if you get a “B” or “B+” in a GE. I hope that I will get accepted and best of luck everyone!

OMGG when are decisions coming out??? im getting annoyed

With all due respect, asking when decisions come out every 5 seconds is not going to change a thing. So can we keep the thread helpful to others rather than asking questions answered just 2 comments ago?

thank you so much @candylover132, your personal experience offered comfort and light in this time of uncertainty.

@Snekfest My thoughts exactly. I am just keeping May 31st in my mind and trying to forget about it. If I find out earlier, awesome. Keeps my anxiety at healthy levels lol.

Hey guys- This wait is agonizing. I will be logging off until something happens! So shocking because this time last year at least TTP were hearing. XOXOXO

@hotlot happy to help!!

Does anyone know if SCA Film Production transfers are required to finish their degree in three years instead of two? Chapman Dodge Film Prod transfers are required to do this.

Hi! I applied to Marshall as a sophomore transfer from a communications-focused liberal arts school. My current school doesn’t have a math class that will fulfill Marshall’s calc pre req and tried to find any online or cc classes I can take but found no luck. I called admissions and they told me when they see my application, they’ll just consider it as incompleted cause my pre-reqs not done. Is there a solid chance I can still get accepted undecided (2nd choice) with my essays all focused on the business school? Thanks in advance and good luck.

Hey Guys! I was wondering how I would be able to upload my winter grades to show USC? Under upload materials, it doesn’t list “Winter Quarter Grades” the closest thing to that is “Mid Year Transcript” which I’m guessing would be sufficient enough? If anyone could give me a solid answer that would be much appreciated thank you

Hi,
Thank you to all of you that take your time to answer questions!
Please update as soon as decisions start coming out. Good luck to all applicants!

@MyDudesCollege Send it under “Mid Year Transcript” They’ll get the idea

Hello everyone,

So I was looking at Gen Eds that are recommended for admission, and I am missing a few of them. I am a biology major, so the curriculum for my first two semesters has been very concentrated on the sciences. What is a good number of the Gen Eds to have completed? Do you think USC will take into account that as a biology major, my curriculum was very concentrated? Thanks.

@asn009 missing “Business Calculus” for Marshall is not good. However, you still have a chance if the other components of your applicants. They may accept your second choice. Please update the result in this spread when the time comes. Good luck!

@ sagaciousforever I definitely will update my result. I’ve already come to terms with not getting admitted into Marshall but just worried about not getting in at all. I would consider my essays very strong but extremely business oriented with minimal GE’s done compared to students that come from cc. Hopefully, I can still get in undecided and then internally transfer or something.

@asn009 Good luck. I applied to Marshall as well. I didn’t select a second major because I only want to get into Marshall.

I did not complete the first writing requirement, but a USC admission counselor confirms that it’s okay to take the two USC writing classes before graduation. However, missing “Business Calculus” is something more serious than missing the lower-level writing/composition class. Calculus is a major requirement for Marshall so I think that you may be admitted for “undeclared” if they consider you.

It’s April 6 and still, no acceptances reported? what’s going on? Where are the TTP’s? I know that at least a few TTP’s should have their decisions by now.

@GoodAfternoonSir Stay patient. Based on previous trends, decisions will come out soon. They will start coming out April 20 ish.

^^^And what is the basis of the April 20th date? Saying it with certainty doesn’t make it true.

Some decisions will start rolling well before the 20th. I know of a couple TTPs already accepted, they were just after reg decisions. Frankly, they should have been accepted the first time as freshman.
