so I found this on another thread (for nccsm 2018):
New: Email Checking!
Step 1) mailtester(dot)com
Step 2) $lastname18$first_initial@ncssm.edu
All green means the email exists; check for “Email is valid”
@SomeGuy9 I searched the thread, and it seems like they found out the same day, but only a couple of hours earlier. I’m still going to use it to check over the weekend and on monday though lol
it sounded like (from what I saw on co18 forum for smath students) that there wasn’t anything new, it was just placing you on a waitlist from where they look through and pick. i might be wrong but i dunno!
i know that they separate boys and girls so if a boy drops out another guy replaces him, and if a girl drops out another girl replaces her
@collegegirl79 Appeals are the way NCSSM chooses the wait list for both residential and online programs. If your status is non finalist, you can decline it, and “appeal” for a spot on the wait list. From what I’ve heard, you basically have to write an essay on why you want to go to NCSSM.
One annoying thing about appeals is that if you applied to both residential and online programs, and you want to appeal for a spot on the wait list of the program that you didn’t get into, you have to give up your spot in the program that you got into.
@lliiaa supposedly, shortly before they announce acceptance, they make emails for all the people who got accepted… This means you can use a mail checking website to see an ncssm email with your name exists. However, Ive tried this and it doesnt work yet so im guessing im just gonna have to wait till tuesday to find out results
@lliiaa yeah thats one thing that didn’t make much sense to me. But its worked for kids in the past, so i guess they just make it ahead of time assuming most kids will accept and then delete the accounts for the people that declined.
