I’m so terrified.

@sarinner Quick question … Did your status on gibson ever change again after getting the “pending review” language? Or did it remain “pending review” until you got your letter?

mine changed too. ah what is going on?

@fallenchemist is correct. Try to take a breath – or three. Decisions will be announced over the next few days as long as your file was complete by the original deadline. If you filed for the extended deadline it will probably take a bit longer, as the Tulane folks have already told you. If something’s missing from your file, you may be deferred to regular decision, even if the rest of your file is superb.

For most of you, the college admissions process will be a marathon, not a sprint. Unless you’re admitted ED, EA, or rolling to your first choice school in the next few weeks, you’re likely to be at this for several months.

Also try not to be affected too much by the people who are posting. The students who tend to post their stats on these boards tend to be at the top end of the distribution. Similarly, and understandably, people are far more likely to post if they’re accepted than if they’re rejected. So it’s not in any way, shape, or form a sample that reflects the full range of the pool of applicants.

I know this is a nerve wracking process, but hang in there. FWIW, D1 went through this process two years ago. She and the vast vast majority of her friends are happy where they landed. This is true regardless of whether they ended up at their first choice school or somewhere else!

Good luck!

My portal still says “awaiting review.” I just want to find out already!

has anyone had the status “pending review” and has been accepted?

I’m “pending review” as of today and still haven’t heard back, are we almost positive this means I’m getting deferred…?

Yes, it probably means you (and I) are getting deferred. I asked the question about “pending review” earlier in the thread and got this response from @fallenchemist: “You are right that most are deferrals, possibly even the significant majority. But of course, as was discussed in other posts, we know that is going to be the case since Tulane accepts only around 27% overall, not to mention that deferrals are skewed to the end of this process for reasons already discussed. So when you look back, I am sure it does seem that all the people getting that message get deferred. You will just have to take my word for it that some do still get accepted. But to be sure, I am not trying to mislead anyone by denying that most, at this point, will probably get deferred.”

I’m honestly freaking out, I’d really rather not get deferred… @homer101

@jakerzz97 Same here. You may get in. The odds are just not great. But there is still a chance.

You too…good luck buddy. Praying for you! @Homer101

@Homer101 @jakerzz97 also on the same boat! Just a curiosity, what are your stats?

@2loulou Good luck to you too! I have a 31 ACT, 3.8 UW GPA and 4.24 Weighted GPA. Also a lot of EC’s. Wbu?

@jakerzz97 thank you! I have a 29 ACT, 3.7 UW, 2 part time jobs, and lots of leaderships in EC! Just banking on the ECs by now

Seriously, would it be completely unheard of to get into Tulane with a 26 ACT? I’m sooo worried.

@2loulou @jakerzz97 My stats – 3.9 UW GPA (4.6 W), 2250 SAT, varsity soccer, leadership, 400+ community service hours, an internship in political consulting, 2 part-time jobs, and student government … and I expressed a ton of interest in Tulane. Good luck to both of you!!! You’re both well qualified for Tulane! The numbers game is just such a brutal one … ugh. I’m not giving up hope, but am bracing myself for deferral …

@College19frsh No, it would not be unheard of … someone from my high school got in last year with an SAT score in the 1700s … which I think corresponds to a 25-26 ACT. So, don’t give up hope. But, honestly, the odds for those of us remaining aren’t great at this stage. Good luck to you!

Wow @Homer101 Amazing stats! You have to get in or i’ll be so confused. Don’t worry, and if it doesn’t work out for us it just isn’t meant to be! Don’t stress it

@homer101 No, it never changed. I’m guessing my deferral letter was sent the same day my status changed to “pending review” because the letter arrived almost a week later. I wouldn’t guess based on what you’ve said that you would be deferred, but then again I was surprised I got deferred too. Good luck to you!

This might be OT but gibson has never completed for us, citing the transcript as missing. It was sent a long time ago, and resent a more than a week ago, kid spoke to a real human about it today and they assured him they had it and it was all fine time wise and that they were swamped. I assume it puts him out of the running for EA despite the application being in in plenty of time. I am never relying on electronic uploads again LOL. 3 schools on our list have this same problem while confirming (by real humans) they have the transcripts.
