Will all applicants receive a letter even if they were not selected? Closure is much appreciated!
To be perfectly honest, Tulane’s track record in sending “Thanks for trying” letters has been very spotty in the past. They seem to have gotten better the last couple of years, so hopefully they will reach out to everyone. But even when they have sent them they have tended to be a few days after the packages have arrived, if for no other reason than they go by regular mail, for obvious reasons of cost. So if you see people on here reporting getting the UPS package and you haven’t seen it within a day or two of that (because they go guaranteed 2 day delivery) then you pretty much know. There is the 1 in a 1000 that gets misdirected, but you pretty much know.
The Admissions Office told me last week to check Gibson for the DHS results. Has anyone done that yet?
Hmmm, I wonder about that. The only time I remember Gibson having that information was incidentally. One year they updated the financial accounting tab before they actually had announced the awards, and those who won could see the credit for tuition already posted. But otherwise I have never known Gibson to actually announce the award.
OK, got it. Letter comes 1st then, then Gibson. Many thanks!
BTW I did check Gibson and there was nothing yet - so crazy nervous!
@CollegeParents9
I definitely understand that nervousness! And you never know about Gibson, they might have done something new this year. I can only go by history.
@fallenchemist Hey FC Hope all has been well! I emailed my admissions counselor on the 10th and still haven’t recieved a reply back. Usually she replies speedy, do you think there should be a certain period of time to wait before I re-reply with another email. I’m really not trying to seem too too pushy haha just wanted to add an additional material to my file for further consideration after being deferred.
cmartin- the school was closed for mardi gras. Just reopened today. Maybe they are a little backed up… or recovering from mardi gras
@jym626 Oh dear! I sent it last week haha how long have they been closed? Laissez les bonnes temps roulez right!

They were just closed this Mon-Tue, but if you don’t hear soon, perhaps a little tickler would be ok. I’ll bet the counselor’s emails get pretty full!
@jym626 I think @fallenchemist has answered your question. If Tulane had sent DHS or PT out before the break, they would have already arrived, because they’re sent two day, not regular mail. As you know, they were closed the last two days for Mardi Gras.
People are generally quite good about posting when the packages start arriving. Speculating that they’re on their way without actual information just increases the stress levels.
Arlmom-
I think it was cmartin who had a question. I didn’t have a question- was just trying to answer theirs. Hopefully their email will be answered soon, and hopefully the DHS UPS folders will arrive soon. With the Stamps and Paul Tulane scholarships, things may be different than in past years. My s’s arrived on President’s day. When people started to post that they’d arrived, I emailed him (it was a school holiday and he was home) to check the front door just in case. He whined and said there was no mail that day. I reminded him that this didn’t come by mail. He groaned again… A few minutes later my phone rang…
@jym626 Sorry I was unclear; I was responding to your post from yesterday when you said dhs was probably on the way. (I’ve been traveling, so I’m behind on cc; if I’d realized it was a day old I probably wouldn’t have bothered.)
But I love the story about your son! D2’s the same way. She had a snow day yesterday, and didn’t even check the mail, so my husband (aka dad) got to find the nice postcard from w&m!
Congrats, Arlmom! And yes, it is a fun memory. Still makes me smile after all these years! It was because he got his on Presidents day that I wondered if they were en route, but then realized this week was Mardi Gras, so maybe they will be a little later in arriving. Back then, President’s day was Feb 18. So they should hopefully be arriving soon!!!
In years past, some folks were able to log into UPS to see if they had an expresspack package scheduled to arrive from Tulane’s zipcode 70118. Has anyone tried that this year?
@jym626 I have one of those ups accounts and usually get email alerts when I have a package coming to my house in my name. Haven’t gotten an alert- hopefully they just haven’t been mailed yet!
I have heard two slightly different things directly from two admissions counselors. One, from a senior adcom at Tulane, was that they would be notifying all DHS and PTA winners “towards the end of this month”. The other, from a social media intern on the Tulane FB page, said that the PTA would be notified “on a rolling basis, but the majority of them will be sent out late-February to mid-March”. My best guess, considering the 2 day close for Mardi Gras, is that they will be sending out results on Monday or Tuesday next week.
Any word or updates?
@danman1022
Nope. Trust me, you will hear as soon as someone sees they have a package. Actually, for the last two years at least TulaneJeff has posted a photograph of all the UPS packages ready to be picked up and posted it on his blog or somewhere we can all see it. Of course that is no guarantee he will do it this year, but it certainly is possible. I know he tweeted that he had posted it as well, and I follow the admissions twitter account. So certainly I will pass that along if he does it again this year.
I checked his blog earlier. Still just showing the gold sneakers from Mardi Gras LOL
@fallen,
What percentage of total undergrad applicants apply EA/SCEA?
