Did your son receive any merit scholarship? It’s pretty well known that only the student with the highest stats and those that received the highest merit awards are considered for the DHS and probably Paul Tulane. I think they use the projects to choose among those top candidates.
As stated on the DHS page “Typical scholarship recipients rank in the top 5 percent of the class, have a rigorous academic program with honors and advanced placement courses, and have an outstanding record of extracurricular activities and score near the top of the range in a college admission test.”
My son applied for the DHS but we never got our hopes up that he would receive it. but figured it doesn’t hurt to take the chance!
Hi I applied for the DHS and have yet to recieve a rejection email (yay) but I haven’t recieved anything in the mail either… @fallenchemist @dolphnlvr6 any ideas? You both seem to know a lot about the DHS. Thank you
I just looked back at my sons old e-mails it was a good week after acceptances went out before he the got an e-mail saying he didn’t get the DHS. It was a very personalized letter as well. So I suppose it does take time to get all the e-mails out.
D had to miss Sunday’s Boston area admitted students reception because of a conflict - anyone on this thread happen to attend? Would love to hear about it!!
Does anyone know how we will be informed about any merit aid we receive? Will be able to find out on Gibson or is it something that we will get in the mail?
I was accepted yesterday after being deferred EA. I applied for the community service scholarship. Could this be an indication that perhaps they’re sending CS scholarships out? I just found it weird that I was accepted earlier than I had thought.
The only place you will find out about merit scholarships will be in the paper letter you get, not on Gibson. The only exception might be that at some point, if they haven’t already, there will be a financial accounting section to your Gibson port that will show tuition, fees, etc. and if they have it updated, it might show a credit for any merit scholarship. Sometimes people were able to see that before getting the letter, sometimes not. It is just whatever the timing is. Congrats on your acceptance!!
@Ruggy7
Certainly that is possible, but it is very hard to say. We are getting close enough to the magic day when all schools have to send out their decisions that you just might be on the front end of Tulane starting to get theirs out. Guess you will know soon about the scholarship, though. It is about that time. Congrats on getting accepted, whatever the reason for the timing!!
Hi I’m an international applicant for Tulane in Regular Decision. Yesterday I received an email from a private account( end up with tulane.net). She(maybe) told me that my decision is released and a pdf was attached which showed I was admitted( and with merit scholarship which I didn’t apply for?) . is it reliable? any paper decision letter I will get? (◎_◎;) anyone has the same situation? Thanks.
I am a little skeptical. Tulane should be .edu, although they certainly might own the .net domain as well. I would email admission yourself with exactly what you received and ask them to confirm if they sent it.
I am still waiting for a decision for RD. I was not able to access the fin aid section before last wednesday and now I can… It doesn’t show any awards it just has my completed documents and it saids I am missing FAFSa which I sent long time ago. What do you think is this good? Or standard procedure for everyone… Were the admitted students (RD) able to access fin aid before knowing they were accepted?
Hi and thank you! @fallenchemist I am trying to be optimistic here but…I noticed from past posts, that mid /late march notices are either denied or wait listed… have you noticed otherwise?
Deja vu. I remember this exact same question from last year or the year before.
There are lots of acceptances in this last batch of notices. There are a lot more denials, and some wait lists. It just makes sense there will be a lot more denials because Tulane overall only accepts at about a 26% rate, and the rate in the RD round is lower than that, like at most schools. But I don’t know the EA admission rate vs. the RD rate. But let’s guess that the RD rate is something like 18%. So of course it is going to appear that “all” the results now are negative, but that is not true. But it’s tough, I won’t sugarcoat that.
