@IvyHopeful98 I’ve taken the most rigorous course schedule that my school allowed for me. By this year’s end I will have completed 5 APs and many honors courses. I was a transfer student so I didn’t have the grade requirements to get into 1 ap class sophomore year. In terms of ECs, I believe they are strong. Although ND does not consider ACT writing, I believe that my common app essay and supplements are strong.
@sgallagher23 Well the fact that your schedule was very rigorous should make a case for you. If you were able to show that you have a true passion to attend ND, that along with strong writing skills should also make up for ND not using your 36 ACT Writing score. I always reference the informational meeting I attended, but I’m pretty sure I heard that standardized testing is one of the last things they really consider, since the majority of students applying already are competitive, so don’t worry too much about your ACT.
@IvyHopeful98 thanks for your input. My low ACT score has been worrying me.
@sgallagher23 No problem. I’m in a similar boat with an SAT score on the lower end of the mid-50% (1440), so I know how you feel. Just know you did the best you could, and there is (unfortunately) nothing left that you, me, or anyone else can do.
Anyone get a likely letter? - heard they went out via email this morning.
@Sophmore1 Was it a letter or email? If email, I did not get one. If it’s based on stats though, I wouldn’t be expecting one in the first place.
@ivyhopeful98 it was an email.
I got a likely!
Oh my goodness. I thought my stats would get me rejected.
@XoXdreamerXoX did you get the email this morning?
@Sophmore1 Yes, I did.
@XoXdreamerXoX Congratulations! Can’t imagine how awesome that feels!
@IvyHopeful98 Thanks! It’s really exciting.
@XoXdreamerXoX Congratulations!!
@Sophmore1 Thanks!
@XoXdreamerXoX Congrats! What are you stats? Do you mind to share?..
@Fiona1997 …you’ll be shocked, as I am currently still shocked, but:
GPA: 3.85/4.0
Rank (when I applied): 12/823
SAT: 2050–700CR, 680M, 670W
Subject Tests: 580 Math 2, 590 Physics
ACT: didn’t send–I added them as a recipient for my Feb scores, which were: 31C, 35E, 31M, 32R, 24S
AP: 14 total. Took 8 this year, but dropped one after 1st semester, so 7.
Major: Physics
I’ve got some minor awards, like National Hispanic Scholar and AP Scholar with Distinction.
If you’d like to know more, just ask.
@XoXdreamerXoX you class rank is amazing!! They must really love your essays too! I’m so happy for you!
Wait, what letter is that? @Sophmore1 @IvyHopeful98 @XoXdreamerXoX
@tina23 I believe that it’s a letter mailed out to RD applicants which basically states that it is likely that ND will be accepting that student, and I think they invite you out for a visitation, though I could be wrong on the last part. I’m not sure how many get it or what the qualifications are, but I’m sure @XoXdreamerXoX could tell you more about it then I could.
@tina23 This was the opening of the letter:
"Dear [name excluded for privacy],
We have reviewed your application for admission and are convinced that you are likely to be admitted to Notre Dame, and that you have much to contribute to the academic, social, and spiritual life on our campus. We would like to offer you an opportunity to gain a better sense of our academic resources and campus community so that you can make an informed decision about where you will spend your collegiate years.
We would like to invite you to participate in:
Notre Dame’s Spring Visit Weekend…"
Then it goes on to say stuff about the Spring Visit Weekend and registration. It’s basically telling you you’ll be admitted unless you do things that would get ED accepted students rescinded.
@Fiona1997 I’d be surprised if it was my essays as well. I tried getting others to read them but they said I said some stuff that wouldn’t go well with a conservative school like ND.
