This topic is just to offer support and understanding to all of those hardworking high school seniors, who will graduate in 2021 and have applied to colleges under the most trying circumstances in 70-plus years.
They are facing record competition at top schools, partly because of so many 2020 graduates taking a gap year. And they’ve had to take AP classes virtually, including AP tests last spring in an online format that made it much more challenging. They’ve had to cancel or wait to take SAT/ACT tests, and they were unable to participate in many of the usual high school activities that help students when they apply.
Meantime, they have had to cope with stress and mental health challenges due to a pandemic that has taken the lives of 540K Americans and counting.
It’s been a rough year for each and every one of the 2021 graduates, and I just thought this thread could be a place to congratulate them on their resilience and wish them the best in their future college endeavors.
