yeah what could even be the reason
Friday should be the day.
would all decisions and SGR come out in 1 day?
Yes, everyone waiting should get something.
But I will say there are always a couple that are like, what the heck, I didn’t get anything. Then an SGR shows up a couple days after the May 31st deadline. Rare, but not surprising anymore as it seems we get some of those every year.
Just curious, but has anyone been denied yet this year? I see a few acceptances, but do they just wait to deny everyone all at once?
Yes. Denials come out at once, no one booted yet.
Someone on Reddit said they were denied from marshall about a month ago but who knows it could have been fake
I’ve heard of such things in the past too, but I imagine it would have to be a pretty serious problem with their app to be denied so early. Not exactly equal, but I was denied almost immediately after the deadline at one of my choices for grad school because only 2/3 of my professors sent in their recommendation letters. Decisions weren’t due to go out for almost another two months, but I guess missing the required letters made it easy to just toss my app aside.
Hey @zettasyntax - hope all is good with you! Are you still up the coast or back down? Done with grad school yet? Mine finished her double major this month - yay! Took an extra year to take just a couple last classes and intern at same time. Wanted her (and she did too) to have the more normal final year rather than covid closedown experience to wrap it up. Feel free to PM if u prefer.
I’ve been back in SoCal for awhile now. I’m barely about to finish. I just need to submit my thesis (two more weeks for the finishing touches), but all of the coding is done (it was like 250-300 hours worth, eesh). I understand the plight. Doing my program part-time, I was supposed to finish in 3 years/spring 2021. I managed to tack on a few quarters onto that, but I’m glad to be done (well assuming my advisor likes what I wrote, but she’s been super helpful and supportive so far). I’m not sure if I’ll be going to Seattle for commencement, but it’s still going to be nice to have that purple sash and degree to keep my USC one company. I’m so ready to take off my scholar hat and put on the industry/computational linguist one (since so many of the jobs want that pesky MSc in comp ling degree, heh).
Congrats! You should be really proud of your accomplishments! You’ve come a long way baby as they say! I remember your decision to leave socal for awhile being a big one - but you did it. Yay you!!!
So we should expect a decision tomorrow?
They really should be tomorrow. Of course they could wait till Tuesday, but that seems like cruel and unusual punishment. They traditionally like the last Friday in May, but there was once they waited until the 31st. So that could happen.
So talking in circles a bit, but I am hoping, for the sake of mental health over the holiday weekend for many, that they cut them loose tomorrow.
I got a spring grade request and go to a college with a quarter system and would not receive my grades until June 20th. When am I expected to receive a decision?
what year did they release on the 31st? was it recent?
Is there a certain time of day decisions usually come out? Or is it just whenever?
I’d say around 5
Why so late? (if you know, I know we’re all just guessing at this point lol)
Do you mean Pacific Time or Eastern Daylight Time
I’m guessing Pacific Time since USC is on the west coast? No idea tho. 5 feels like a random time since that’s probably when the office closes
