That’s probably when they just tell the system to go ahead and update the portal/send out the emails. Back when I got rejected the first time I applied, my portal updated at midnight with a rejection PDF. This was quite some time ago though. 5PM has been a time USC seems to like these past couple of cycles. It’s definitely hard, but I wouldn’t be obsessively checking your email/portal until about 5 today. Best not to add more stress given how long USC is making transfers wait this go around.
My son just got an SGR today. He will be able to submit it by next week. So looks like we won’t know anytime soon! He is a sophomore transfer.
Bummer…I proactively submitted unofficial spring grades because I emailed my admissions counselor who said it was okay to do so…hoping that doesn’t give them a reason to not reach out to me in the next few days at all
But hey, at least he heard something! I know tons of people who got requests and were admitted later!
Also just got a SGR, at least its an update!
do they accept sophomore transfers without requesting SGRs? I am nervous I havent gotten one
Yes, most likely if you don’t have a pre-req course in progress.
what are the mandatory prereqs for transfer?
Yes they accept transfers without an SGR.
Transferable math course, writing (they sometimes seem to be lax with this one though). Math course and other pre-reqs vary by major. If you’re say Marshall and don’t have calc/business calc completed, it would be almost impossible for them to admit you without seeing your grade for that. The year I got my SGR, my admissions counselor actually reached out and specifically said he wanted to see my grade in math. I was applying as Undecided/Dornsife, so it was just a pre-calc course. Taking that course in the spring though made my SGR all but a sure thing.
I took AP Calculus in high school and got a 5 on the exam, and at my current school didn’t need to take calc because of it… will they consider that grade?
I got a BC in calculus and analytic geometry and applied for Marshall, is that going to ruin my chances of getting in?
That’s usually The time I get my decisions
If you satisfied the math requirement in HS, you are fine. Many applicants take calc at the community college level though, so the math requirement is aimed at them. They just want to make sure you are prepared for the coursework, which is why there’s like a 99% chance they won’t directly admit a student without a grade/credit for calc (or whatever the minimum math required for your major/school); that’s almost guaranteed SGR like it was for me.
Hi i got SGR today. Does usc always take two weeks to respond a decision to an sgr or could it possible be less than two weeks?
are ppl still getting SGR’s or did they stop rolling that out? I’ll be a sophomore and I finished all my prerequisites 1st semester so i’m just thinking I might not even get a SGR
Has anyone seen a difference/change in their application portal? I haven’t yet but obviously it may take time - just a bit anxious
i got a spring grade request today. I am a sophomore transfer.
how long ago did u get it?
are you on the quarter or semester system?
