I think Eminem meant it as a social statement, just as Dr. Dre meant a particular line he rapped as a social statement. But thatâs absolutely to be expected, because the artists they chose focus on social issues as part of their music.
Also the knee could have been for Tupac whose song they were playing. Maybe a hat trick if reasons! Keeps the crowd guessing!!
I just had to laugh as my hubby and I share opposite political viewpoints and often go head to head on our interpretations of events. I was shocked my hubby didnât immediately call out the knee reference! But even he was like, sure it could have been but that wasnât the vibe he got.
As for the lyric, it was in the song to begin with at least, like it or not.
Agreed. FWIW, while I am not a fan of the musical genre, itâs just the musicality I am not into. I have no issue with the messages.
Worst halftime show ever. Didnât recognize a single person. Is that considered music?
Commercials sucked. Maybe I missed the good ones, but other than Walter the cat, which I have seen before the SB, there werenât any good ones.
I thought this was wasted. I was on the eliptical. It was $7 million of a bouncing QR and at the end, Conbase popped up. Made no sense.
The other one that threw me was T MobileâŠfirst they said Verizon, then AT&T - I didnât have a clue who it was for. Then having Dolly Parton say I need to get something off my chest and pulling it from her shirtâŠwell itâs like teenager cheesy.
I like commercials that are clear about what they stand for - but Iâm old school.
Bring back Springsteen, McCartney, U2 - or get Elton on his farewell tour. What happened to music I always enjoy Snoop Dog though - heâs just a fun dude.
So you donât know Eminem, Dr. Dre, or Snoop?
This is just one of the songs performed tonight (by Eminem), and itâs a masterpiece from 20 years ago: Eminem - Lose Yourself [HD] - YouTube
ETA: This was a Billboard Number 1 song for 12 weeks in 2002 and won the Academy Award for Best Original Song: Lose Yourself - Wikipedia
The Pringles âStuck On Youâ commercial !
Found this review of all the commercials by quarter - whether or not you agree with the commentary, itâs a thorough discussion of them all. I had forgotten quite a few, or missed bits of them, so it was fun to google a number of them and watch. The reviews also told me who all the stars of the ads were; very fun.
I could say the same for every one of those old timers, all of which I would not have enjoyed and wouldnât call music.
I understand hiphop isnt everyones cup of tea. I dont listen to much rap myself.
But the really negative comments Ive heard all seem to be from older, white, upper class people.
Love Lose Yourself. And Mary J. Blige seems quite well known too. All of the performers were well known in the business. Great show. Very surprised that a poster knows none of them.
And the CPSC has issued a warning in case weâre all tempted to eat soap and diapers following the Uber Eats adâŠ
Good game, even though my team didnât win.
Question for California people: why did they build the stadium with a roof and artificial turf? The images of winter football in the sunshine at the Rose Bowl or the Coliseum are iconic to me. A thing of beauty for people watching from the frozen tundra.
I suppose I can understand the roof, but the artificial turf played a factor in the game. Even the most modern versions of turf are known to cause knee and ankle injuries, and it would have been nice to see OBJ and Burrow playing at full strength. Football should be played on grass.
I have no respect for the halftime performers or their music. Thatâs the nicest thing I can say about that.
Yep, I donât like showing people eating non-food items - just asking for trouble.
I loved the Robo-dog (Kia) and the Barbie House (Rocket mortgage) commercials.
Halftime show was fine, I liked Mary J Blige. My kids loved it!
I loved the half-time show. Have been thinking about it since I got up this morning. My most recent favorite was Katy Perry - when she came in to ROAR on the gold lion and danced with right shark and left shark. But this was pretty great in itâs own way!
