Does anyone know anything? The wait is killing me at this point.
Unfortunately I’m pretty sure people only have speculation at this point. It might not hurt to email an AO, but personally mine was never very responsive.
I haven’t been in contact with mine since early June. Is there any point in saying something along the lines of “hey I’m still interested?”
I feel like you need a significant update to your application to do that, and since I don’t have any idk what to do
I’ve messaged my AO recently, they’ve told me that they do not have any definitive info on the waitlist and that they will inform us in the coming weeks.
I contacted my AO and she said that the waitlist is still open and active. And they have no idea when they will close it so there is some hope for us I guess…
Does anyone know if more people have been rejected recently? Just trying to get an idea of how big the waitlist pool is in comparison to March. From the sounds of it, it hasn’t shrunk a lot.
I don’t think UChicago has sent out any rejections yet. If they have, it would have been very few. They waitlist A LOT of their RD and ED II applicants so I would assume the pool is still fairly large.
It’s just ridiculous…having us waiting so long without any update.
Does anyone know why we are still waiting for a decision? Are they shortening the list at all?
The results will come out soon anyway. It is almost August.
I hope they come out soon. Even if it’s a rejection, we can move on and focus on our committed colleges.
It’s likely due to the recent Covid-19 spike. The number of cases per day were declining steadily. Then, since early June, the number of cases per day starting increasing again and are now at a record high. I have a feeling that they were looking to admit more international students because they’ll be full pay, but now because of the Covid situation, they’ll probably be more reluctant.
Them not updating us is high key disrespectful at this point; August begins tomorrow.
How many of y’all will soon be (or already been) locked into attending your current school? It is getting really close for me.
August 1st was the deadline for me to get my housing deposit back. So, I’m basically locked in to K-State. I was really hoping I would get in to the class of 2025. Had a 34 on the ACT and a 3.87 gpa in the honors program of a college prep school
Does anyone know how many people are left on the wait list? Have they told anyone no or are they just going to send out rejections all at once in the middle or August?
Hey all- I just reached out to my AO a few days ago to check in about the waitlist. Essentially, I was told that there is still no new updates, but that all students will be contacted when the waitlist is closed. It currently remains open on a ‘limited basis’ - my assumption is that not many more students will be admitted for this class, if any. I wish I would have applied to more schools like UChicago! I instead will be attending a small, private university that is close to home because it was the best choice for me financially. I’m afraid that I won’t have as many opportunities at this school, and that I won’t get accepted into as good of medical schools because of it. I really hope that we will hear back from admissions soon, because I would really like to have closure and be able to accept that I will not be attending UChicago.
As our perpetual struggle to find out the results of the waitlist continues, I just want to say thank you to everyone here who has overtly poured their emotions into this thread. I know it is quite difficult because of the numbing silence, but I find it refreshing that we all come from different backgrounds, and that we are leaders of our communities. You may not think that because perhaps you submitted your application very, very close to the deadline, but you will achieve great things wherever you go. I know the college I am committed to currently wasn’t my first choice, I wanted to get out and see the world for what it was and to run away from domestic issues. But sometimes life just hits you like a truck and you somehow are supposed to pick yourself up with what remaining pieces you have left. So to all of us that are still on the waitlist, it is time for us to look forward to our committed colleges and make the most of it. Our endeavors are not defined by the prestige that is bestowed upon us, but by the measure of our grit to achieve greatness.
Hear, hear! That post of yours is telling me powerfully that you’ll be fine, @dapperduong . Keep writing and thinking like that and let the U of C eat its heart out - or give them another chance for grad school.
