I just checked my June scores and got a 2090 overall, and individually:

720 CR- 97%
780 W- 99%
590 M- 72%

I just finished an SAT course for preparation and I'm hoping to apply to selective LACs; I'll probably apply to one early decision. Are those SAT scores good enough? I'll retake them in October in time for the early decision deadline to try to get atleast a 600 in math, but I want to know if those scores would positively/adversely affect me since some colleges require all scores to be sent. By the way, I'm NOT a math person and I will probably major in English.

It depends where you want to go.
590 in Math is probably not satisfactory for the selective LACs, and you might want to aim for a 750 average, really.
If you are looking to major in English, some selective LACs like Bowdoin and Middlebury are SAT-optional: you are not required to send in your scores. But yeah, you might want to aim for at least 2200 (and at least 700 in Math).

Congratulations! The 2090 is a great score. Colleges will look at your tests in sections, not as an overall score. You will want to check with each schools common data set to see what their SAT scores are for accepted students. For top schools the math score will probably sting a bit, however LACs tend to use holistic admissions. Make sure you get a detail of your SAT test to see what questions you missed so you can more effectively study for the October testing. Even if you are not a math person you want to show you are capable of college level work. The SAT only goes through Alg2 which most college bound students finish by their Jr year. If your schools super score you can do light review on W/CR and focus on the math.

I think its a great score and most people (outside of the obsessed over achievers in CC) would love to have that score…Helll…I would love to have that score… lol Even though the MAth is not the greatest…it doesn’t matter…why retakke a whole test because one portion was satisfactory, but overall you did amazing… I would say keep the score…SAT is only a small factor of admission.

For the top LACs, you will need a higher math score. The mid 50th percentile for accepted students’ Math SATs at Williams College is 650-760.

The lowest 25th percentile (under 650 Math) will ~generally~ be hooked students–recruited athletes, legacies and URMs. Unless you fit into one of those groups, you will want the 650-800 score. The good news is you have the summer to study and retake in the fall. Good luck.
