2110 Retake? & Tips for retake studying

Hi CC,

I recently took the SAT in March and got a 2110 (CR: 720, M: 730, W: 640). I want to apply to some very top schools (Pomona, Harvey Mudd, Harvard, Stanford are my top choices), should I retake? I have mostly heard "yes, you should retake," which I am planning on at the moment.

I also would like some advice regarding studying for the retake. My plan is to focus on writing and math, and leave CR alone (mainly just keep up to speed with it). Is this a smart move? I was also wondering how to study for it, as I have completed the Blue Book, as well as a few other tests. What are some good books?

Thanks!

Bump. I should also add: would it be better to retake in May, or wait until next fall?

I believe the “standard” for SAT is three times, so I would suggest you take it in May and see how that goes. If you don’t like your score, take it again in October.

First of all, congrats on the score; 2100+ is a huge accomplishment, and puts you at least ‘in the realm’ of ivy/top tier contention. Secondly, take the test again in May and the fall. I would focus on all three–all of your scores could be improved a bit at least.
