You can choose a minor in Dramatic arts in Applied Theatre Arts, Dramatic Arts, Musical Theatre, Performing Arts or Playwriting. If you are not interested in a minor, note that USC encourages cross-registration in their various schools and you may simply take courses in the School of Dramatic Arts.

Yes, most beds in USC housing can be lofted to various heights.

Your financial aid will not depend on the amount awarded to any other student. It will be calculated based on your unique financial circumstances. Financial aid awards vary widely depending on financial circumstances. Start wih a rough estimate using the NPC http://www.usc.edu/admission/fa/applying_receiving/npc/</a> If either of your parents is self-employed or owns a business, the NPC (at all schools, not just USC) will not provide a useful estimate.

Spring admits start in the Spring and Fall admits start in the Fall. Spring admits will need to put a bit more effort into becoming involved, but the opportunities are there for those who go out and find them.

Yes. The most common way is to attend a community college for the Fall semester and obtain transferable GE units (there is a form to obtain pre-approval). Others find that their AP units plus taking the max units each semester (18 w/flat rate tuition) allows for on-time graduation.

Extraordinary.

USC strongly encourages all students to consider double majors and/or major/minor combinations. Some schools, such as SCA, have specific requirements to apply for a MAJOR and double majoring may require more than 8 semesters, however minors are offered that are very manageable. An SCA minor requires one gateway course and a form to be filled out. <a href=“USC Cinematic Arts | Minors Offered”>http://cinema.usc.edu/degrees/minor/</a></p>

alamemom is one of the most knowledgeable posters on the USC forum, and all of her answers are exactly as I have seen USC, too. But I may have a few additional comments
:

I know that USC is diverse in numbers, but how diverse does it look when on campus

Looks very diverse, but each person needs to look and judge for herself.

2 & 3. Sorry, don’t have info on Greek life. Others should.

I love theater almost as much a journalism, how can I get involved in theater even though that is not my major?

In addition to the many opportunities to minor, USC School of Dramatic Arts produces approx. 24 plays each year, and many of them hold auditions which are open to all USC students. For example, the big musical production (this year they are doing The Grand Hotel the first two weekends in April) is open audition to the entire university. Also, student run productions (ISPs) are very popular at USC and some are so extremely good that tickets sell out instantly. Any student can audition or even write, produce, or direct an ISP.

Is it possible to make a loft bed out the dorm beds in the USC campus?

Yes.

Is USC as much as a party school as people say it is?

No. But it depends on which of the 18,000 students you hang with, I suppose.

How are spring admits different than fall admits? Is it more difficult to get involved on campus?

USC holds a separate orientation for Spring admits, and they tend to provide housing together with other Spring admits. There are many many opportunities to get involved in student life. Those who live nearby often go to all the football games, and generally those 4 months fly by.

Is there a way for a spring admit to graduate on time with all of the other fall admits?

Yes. Check the information on AP courses that count to satisfy USC Gen Ed requirements. Many students enter with enough credits to graduate in 3 or even 3 1/2 years. Those who choose to take double majors, BFA, or many Viterbi majors may not be able to do this as easily, but I don’t believe it’s a big issue for most.

Do you recommend a double dorm with sink or without? How necessary is sink in a dorm room as opposed to just using the community bathrooms.

? A sink? It’s a perk, and some like having that extra item. But… like… why would it be necessary? Secret hair dying sessions after midnight? Running a side business rinsing out others socks? The only housing options with sinks in the room are at Birnkrant, I believe, and that is now dedicated to Honors housing. Please do not let the lack of a sink in your room torpedo your dream school (hehe–just kidding)

If you interviewed (not for scholarships), how important would say it was to being accepted. Do you think you wouldnt have been accepted if you didn’t interview?

It is only offered to provide information to applying students and is not listed as evaluative. No harm done not interviewing.

Is there anything (other than housing), that is first come first serve that a freshman needs to know about

There are pre-orientation deadlines to apply for Thematic Option (Honors program), Freshman Science Honors, and other specialized programs (for instance, several in Marshall).

How selective in Anneberg for my major and overall? How competitive would you say the applicants are?

It’s always helpful to write a wonderful essay, since Annenberg is primarily looking for great communicators, and having good outside of school activities relating to your specific talents/interests are important.

Is it possible to double major in

It is not easy to double major with SCA majors–and Production is going to BFA, which does not allow time for much else, maybe a minor but you’d have to check the number of required courses, their sequence, and fitting in all the GEs as well. Minoring in SCA would be the way to go there.

If so, how difficult would you say it is?

Completing a double major is quite doable, but takes a lot of planning and allows almost no room for other outside courses. Adding a minor to a double major is extremely difficult to pull off in only 4 years with no summer work, unless you bring a full load of AP credits in GE-replacement courses and place out of language requirement as well. And the AP courses that replace the 2 GEs that allow the option require a 4-5 score and are very specific ones.

Fight on and good luck.
