222 PSAT? National Merit? How to improve critical reading?

I'm currently a junior living in CA and scored a 222 on the PSAT. The current cutoff for NM is 223; is there any chance whatsoever that that the bar might lower?
Also, I desperately need help on the CR score for when the March SAT rolls around. On the PSAT I got 62-80-80 (year before that 63-69-80, so no improvement on reading). 62!! That's 88th percentile, while overall I got 99th!
People say reading is the hardest score to improve, so any tips? Reading is the only thing preventing me from a 2300+ on the SAT so I really need this.

Dang! 80 in Math and WR? That is beast!

The way to improve CR is to practice a lot. The way to practice is to first start learning vocab. Vocab gets you to do SCs faster, giving more time for passages and gets you more qs right. Look through all your previous practice tests and learn all the new words.

Start to read a lot of classic novels - the ones for AP Lit. They help a lot. Also, practice only from the BB.

^ The person above me is right. But I want to add a little to his statement. Try and attempt the reading section in different ways i.e maybe passages before the sentence completion or attempting the passages in a different way. You might be surprised by the fact that some people even choose to do the sections backwards! Experimenting with the way you attempt the SAT can allow you to find an optimum method that can bring the best out of you. This, coupled with a gain in vocabulary, can work wonders. Good Luck!
