2250 retake

should i retake?

I got the exact same score, and I'm not taking it over because I don't think I'll improve much and I'd rather just focus on college apps rather than trying to raise it another 40-50 points...

i really don't understand someone with a near perfect score who wants to retake it.

also, i don't think it'll have any bearing on your admission at all if you raise your score 50 points and colleges will probably look less on you for being too much of a perfectionist and making your life too much about your college applications.

omg a 2250 HAHA you have no chance at any school go retake it 3 more times

My daughter got a 2250 in March. For a moment she thought about retaking (because she thought she could have done better on the essay), but she quickly got over it and moved on to SATIIs. She is deliriously happy to not have to take the SAT again.

A 2250 will put you above the 75% level at most colleges, and certainly well within consideration range at the most selective. At that level, your application will not depend on your score (it's high enough), but on other aspects of your application.

if it will bother you for the rest of your life, retake, but if your worried that you won't get into any colleges, there is no need to retake cuz thats really high.

I retake a 2250. Retaking a 2250 is perfectly respectable if you feel it isn't a proper representation of your ability, of which my 2250 was not. I got a 2310 on the retake.

same here
i retook a similar score- 2280- and ended up with 2370 with perfect math and verbal

or you could get a life :P

Sorry, I'm just a bit sick of everyone who is like "OMG I only got 2300". You guys have to realize that there are other way more important things in life than the SAT. Chances are that if a great SAT score is one of the highlights of your app, you're not getting in. It's better to have amazing ec's and good SATs than ok ec's and amazing SATs, imo.

2250.... honestly, how is that even worthy of retaking? That is a great score. You know it, I know it, everyone on this board knows it. Just relax and focus on applying to colleges. Don't be a testaholic.

omg...I'm honestly getting annoyed from seeing everyone saying "awww....I only got a 2300. It's a bad score.I wanna retake it". gah..IT'S A GREAT SCORE!! so settle down and move on with life. Apply to your IVy leagues and get accepted. Focus on your essays, interviews, and whatever..you mess up on those and you're screwed. Not everything is based on your SAT scores, there are alot of junk that these colleges look at. They are not going to say "oh look..this person got a 2250 and this person got a 2300..let's accept the second person just because he/she has a better SAT score"..they're going to see if you wrote your essays well and presented yourself well and if you have a respectable amount of EC's. So unless you absolutely believe that you are going to get a 2400 on the retake..don't waste your time..focus on other things. And by the way in college, these SATs won't be worth crap.

What I noticed is that on college apps, they don't even ask for your total score. You always report your scores by section. IMHO, that greatly reduces the superficial difference between a 2300 and a 2250. If a person got 750 750 750 (2250), is that so inferior to a 760, 770, 770 (2300)?

thanks a lot for your advice. I was just happy that i got a 2250, so i felt like being a little cocky and making this thread. Don't blame me for my cockyness. It just feels good being able to make a discussion like this, since i increased 200 points unexpectadly and got a 2250.

totally agree w/ you, I did it too, but I didn't score as well, you succeeded in rubbing it in, holla!

I got a 2260, but only a 690 CR at the end of sophomore year. I've yet to decide whether I'll take it again or not. I know my CR is improved though.

Hm. Retake SAT; have a life. Retake SAT; have a life. Guess which one won for me? 2270 was good enough. But I'm not the OP. If you go to a really competative school or something it might be a good idea, but if you're like me, in the boondocks (your SN says LA but I don't know which part), 2250 is more than okay.

How does retaking the SAT imply one does not have a life?

I got a 2150 (1450 M/CR) the first time, 2210 (1490 M/CR) on the retake...I'd just keep the 2250 if I were you.

one has to put ones effort into ones testing causing one to mentally explode

Each section has roughly a +/-30 margin of error. Do you really want to retake that?
