2260 SAT score, am I screwed??

Hi CC,

I took the SAT my first time in January of last year, and just retook it this December. The scores were a very modest upgrade from last time (680 CR, 780M, 800W) vs. (660 CR, 770M, 780CR). I’m really bummed out, because I thought my reading scores would’ve improved a lot. My question is, is my critical reading score absolutely too low for schools like Stanford, MIT, and the Ivy League ? Can I (and should I) retake it in January for one last effort before college decisions are made? And is there any other advice that you have? These scores almost exactly mirror my score from the ACT I took, (36E, 35M, 32R, 33S), which isn’t good, either. Thanks!

No, there is no point in retaking the SAT. You may well do worse, which is supported by stats from SATs website. I am wondering what on earth you think is wrong with your ACT though? That’s a great score! If you are striving for perfection, you are bound to fail, or make yourself sick with stress while trying. I would submit your ACT and SAT superscores. They are excellent.
