I'm going to be 24 years old when I transfer to UCLA and am wondering if my age will negatively affect my college experience. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I’m 28, in my first quarter at UCLA, and no one gives me a second glance. You’d be surprised at the age-range here. As UCLA accepts more transfer students than any other UC (in other words, there’s a higher upper-division to lower-division demographic), the median age in upper-division classes is probably somewhere around what you are (24 or 25).

One of my neighbors is 26 and everyone on the floor thinks he’s awesome.

The 24 year old transfer I know looks like hes getting the experience (lots of friends, involvement in clubs, etc).

You’ll be fine and have tons of fun.

If you are afraid primarily bc of how others will perceive you, don’t be. I doubt anyone will think you are older (unless you really act it).

Although I should respond that you are probably at the age where you can get f*ucked up at parties and no one would think twice because everyone will probably think you’re a senior. I (and most people 25 and older) don’t really have that luxury, but it all depends on which party and where.

At parties everyone will know you as the pervy old dude.

there’s actually a 24 year old transfer student who lives on my floor. i didnt know he was 24 until it came up once at a floor dinner. no one cares really

you will be the go-to guy for alcohol. anyway, i know a couple of people that look old as **** but they turned out to be under 21. no one gives a crap anyway.

Get two forms of photo ID before you accidently hit on the 16 year old freshmen.

people will love you when you buy them alcohol

16 year old Freahman, what is this “Smart Guy”…yeah google it

one of my friends was 16 when he entered ucla

^ Holy crap your friends with the kid from Smart Guy!!!

I have an 18 year friend at the UCLA School of Law and he seems peachy. I think you’ll be fine :)

i know someone that got his phd at 20

yeah one of my profs got his phd at 20 too, crazy! He got it from USC, yet then again nobody is perfect…

^ cheap shot, sir.
