THANKS

now..........there is another guy from my school going for Dartmouth......
and he has 2300 SAT, top 10 rankings (which I don't have), Honour Band. I am not sure which one Dartmouth is gonna take.....and I don't think they'll take both

so........
Please, offer your take

you have a great chance! Don't mess up the essays

As long as your essay and recommendations are good, I think you have a great chance at Dartmouth. It seems to be that you have a very strong background in music as well as good academic credentials. Do you think you could provide more information about yourself (gender, family background, etc.) and your school (general location, level of competitiveness, etc) though? That'd be helpful.

Good luck!

Honors with Distinction, 2007
-99th Percentile on the PSAT
-History 12 Prize, 2007 (rare distinction for a Grade 11 student)
-100% on the History 12 Provincial Exam
-99% on the Mathematics 12 Provincial Exam

^are these awards really necessary? reporting all these exam scores, esp. 99% on PSAT, seems filler to me.

not being in top 10 may hurt u, just b/c u have really high SAT's, and the other person applying is in top 10.

im assuming u r international. if so, then you have an ok chance. if not, then a pretty good chance :)

yes. Canadian. gender: male. school: competitive university-preparatory all-male private school in Vancouver that is ranked 2nd in Canada. Family: very very very middle class.

and if it helps, last year i was together with this other guy in the school magazine team. he was Copy Editor (altho i suspect he probs eliminated the word "copy" from the app), me Senior Editor

hmm how do u know that dartmouth would only accept 1? its not like they have quotas..

i dont know, really, but my counselor just told me that historically, that has been the patten for Early

guys, please....do you think Dartmouth will take me on Early or just "oh let's wait a bit"

Sounds to me like when both the applicants are so qualified I can't picture them rejecting either of you. Also, doesn't 99th percentile PSAT imply National Merit?

yep. except i was out of the race as I was Canadian

hey i think you have great chances. where in BC are you from? i used to live there. pm me :)

thanks everyone. keep it coming. i am anxious as hell here bunked up in my room. hmm

lol sounds like ur very anxious...dont worry you have a really great chance of getting in ...even with your rival applying :)

yeah. i guess it would be best if they just take both of us. and yeah, i really wish we weren't competing against each other, but damn, the system makes us do.

OH, MY, EFFING, GOD, Look at your piano ECs, from now on I don't think I'll be able to mention my piano ECs to anyone ever again. :(
2nd in CMC is craaazy. I know a girl who got 1st place (last year?) and all I can say is, she was dammmmmmmn good (she didn't go into musics neither). I HIGHLY doubt you'll get rejected from Dartmouth.
P.S.: Are you studying with Dr. Starcevich? :D

Wow, and you're applying ED? you're in

Not always. I was 99th percentile and missed NMSF by 2 points (because california has a really high qualification)
