2400 in June06

6.3.2006

I aim for a 2400. I know a lot of you may try to be negative about this and say 'dude that's impossible' or 'yeaa ok'. Really, I don't care. I may sound cocky, but its just this unbending confidence I have, and the fact that im riduously stubborn into working till I get something helps. I also have gone over the test, and I am going to prepare my self to recieve the 2400.

Initial Information:

I got a 2030 in Jan06

710 Math
690 Verbal
630 Grammar 8/essay

I got this through some really half assed prep 1-2 weeks initially, nothing concrete though. In retrospect, Im glad. This shows Im hitting 700s in Math/English, so I just got to push for the extra 100.

The Plan:

I have the Grammatix book which has some rather useful CR tips. I have the College Board's official book, and a bunch of other books. I really only plan to use Grammatix & the Blue Book. I basically do the Xiggi method and do section(s) every day. I set aside about 1-1.5 hours a day to do SAT practice. Through practice (serious practice) Ive begun to realise the patterns that re appear on tests. The Last 2 math sections Ive done, Ive only gotten 1 wrong and that was because of some silly error. Compare this to earlier this year where I could expect atleast 3 mistakes/section. I still have a long way to go though.

The Obstacles:

The curve for 3 800s gets really high and hard so the goal is to get all correct not my previous goal of get as less incorrect as possible. Time is also an issue, but through a lot of repition of the blue book, I can build efficieny. Also my laziness tends to get in my way, so I have to watch out for that..

The Tools:

Grammatix which is very controversial on this board. I have it and I actually admire it, it is very well written and while I don't agree with it 100%, it does bring home some sound points. The Blue Book, of course is my practice sheet. I also use www.SATmathpro.com for some hard math problems which im pretty sure are above those of the SAT standard.

Well that is it, my Mother always told me, 'when ever you have to do something, be #1'. Haha im pretty sure everyone's mother said that, but a lot is riding on this score, and the way I see it is, What do I have to lose? The test it self is easy (8-9th grade level math, 9th grade level English, not sure about grammar). So if I know the material, then id be ashamed not to do well on it. So come June06, Ima tear the SATs a new one :)

good luck man. I'm not gonna poo poo you. If you want it, push it to the limit and take it.

um good luck? I got a 2390 by studying from the blue book.

JibBob1225 thats awesome man! You can basically say you got a 2400 +- 10 points thats trivial. What was your intial score?

by the way, for all those on the same quest as me, I suggest getting some Green Tea or Yerba Mate tea before practicing. I usually do SAT after all my homework and am tired, but after I started drinking tea it gives JUST enough energy to get me through another hour to an hour and half.

sounds good, Prism! can't wait till those June scores come for you, man.

good luck, I'm sure you're hard work will pay off.

go the distance man and do what I could not do!

blue book prep for around 6 weeks each saturday and sunday morning.
I got a 2390. It seems that those who use the blue book religiously tend to do well. your initial score is like the score I got on the first practice test.

Noo need to wish him luck. He is guaranteed a 2400. Good Luck...

Good luck. ;)

Anything above 2300 is good enough for me.......

You're making it sound so easy!

Looks like you're wasting time on a message board when you could be cleaning up some grammar issues.

Good luck.

Good luck! Work hard.

hey, somehow, after reading this thread, a 2400 seems closer to reality. not easy, but achievable. thx prism, i think ur confidence and motivation rubbed off on me.
are the princeton review books any good? i've been using one of those...and what's the best way to get a stellar CR score? those seem the most unpredictable, since the answer choices are usually SO close. i think right answers to most of those questions are more like opinions, and opinions are NOT facts.

For those of you who use the Blue Book, do you just take the practice tests at the back or do you work through the practice questions too?

Uhh, technically, if you think about it, the aim is always 2400. I just usually have more realistic aims, but this time, my 'realistic' aim is 2300, but goal, of course, is perfect. If one shoots for the highest, then wherever they land is always good.

No, I don't believe it's impossible in the least, with the skill and a tiny bit of luck, a 2400 is well within the reach of a practicing individual, so I have no reason to respond negatively to your post, I can only wish you the best.

No Murasaki, because if everyone was aiming for a 2400, they wouldn't leave any blank. ;) Anyway, I got up to a 2350, just through the blue book, so good luck.

a 2350? wow. i shud've gotten the blu book ages ago
again, does ANYONE use the princeton review books?

yah so pretty much dont buy princeton review. i bought the "11 practice tests" book and did ALL of them. i consistently got 2250's with the occasional 10pt up or down. then i bought the blue book; same deal. i couldnt get above a 2270 on practice tests. then i took the SAT for the first time and got a 2390. stupid books.

haha. i agree. well hope my actual scores end up higher than how i scored on those PR practice tests!

good luck dude. all i'm gonna say.

get that 2400.
