2300+ on the October '06 SAT!

my goal is to get 2300+ on the october sat. october is going to be my first time taking the sat. i have been doing a lot of practice tests lately and im seeing improvements.

finished:
10 from PR's 11 practice tests for the SAT
all 8 BB tests
6 from barron's how to prepare for the SAT.
finished word smart 1&2 and about 3000 of barron's 3500 list.

still have to do:
sat online course (practice quizzes and 6-7 tests)
learn new words
barron's math prep books
satmathpro.com

PSAT: 168
i know most of u are going to say that it's impossible for me to get 2300+ based on my psat score, but i dont care. im very determined and im going to do whatever it takes for me to get that 2300+!!! i have 2 shots @ the SAT.
so basically: sleep, breathe, talk SAT

this is a motivation thread. :)
who's with me?
if u have any good tips or good review books to recommend, please post!

2300+!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so what were ur scores for the practice tests!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol .

don't worry man.
i got a 163 on PSAT sophomore year. i was like *.
but then i took it junior year w/ very little prep, and i got a 220. i was like *
again.

i just need to find my thread

good luck man i also have a goal of 2300+

man 2300 is weak. Im going for 2400 in october.

june 2090

i must get 2400.

Good for you. But not everyone can get a 2400. Besides, 2300+ includes 2400.

And OP, it sound like you have a good idea of how to prepare.

June 2090? Is that when you plan on accomplishing your goal?

lol not sure if youre kidding koolcrud but he meant in june he scored a 2090 (my score :) ) im not planning on moving up too much. i refuse to study for the SATs b/c i think they are not THAT helpful. sure id like to improve but i wont work my butt of for it. rather focus on my gpa and essays.

"so what were ur scores for the practice tests!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
range: 2150-2400.
yeah i know, 250 points difference. :(
i hate careless mistakes.

n my school is offering sat prep classes right now.
$200 dollars for 20 hours of sat prep.
what a waste of money!
im self studying. :)

Mountain Dew, I see that PRiSM's motivation for a 2400 on his SAT has rubbed off on you. ;)

PR's practices are easy so they don't really count. Like I got 1900-2100 constantly but my June SAT was 1780. So it really depends on how well your physical condition and luck on the test day. I'm really ****** off by the score.

Lol to the guy who said 2300 is "weak." Compare that with the kids in my class who think 1700 is a "really really good score"!
Poor things were baffled when I told them about the CCers and elite colleges.
BTW 2300 is not weak.

settle for less and you fail. Aim high, not low.

I always tell people to set their goals high. 2300 is really high for some people. Maybe not for you, but for others. I mean, you get only 3/54 wrong on the math section, and you get a score around 730 (which is pretty good for most people, but times it by 3 and you "only" get 2190.)

My highest (combined) score is 2310. I consider myself pretty smart, and a good test taker. Many other - intelligent - people at my school would love to have my score (though I realize CCers tend to have higher scores than most of them). True, I may have been able to get higher if I'd actually prepped for the SAT (I didn't really, besides the PSAT and some practice questions). But what I'm trying to get at is that, for most people, trying for 2300+ is NOT "settling."

Who's with me?

I am aiming very high, a 2410. No one can beat that.

basically what im trying to say is that if you aim for 2400 and get a little bit less you will still be happy, but if you pick a goal such as 2300 and get a little bit less you might not be happy since its kind of a cutoff point. I think its better to aim for 2400 and get 2250 than aim for 2300 and get 2250.

i want 2100.

how many times did everyone take the sat??
