2400 in one sitting VS 2400 combined.

ok heres the deal. since most schools use the best scores from each section, would a combined 2400 from 3 different test administrations be viewed differently as a 2400 in one sitting? if so, how much different. please cite and info if you can.

heres my situation :

in april i got 2250
math- 710
reading-740
writing- 800

june 2270
math- 690
reading- 800
writing- 780

assuming in november i get
math 800
reading 740
writing 770

if that were to happen, my best combined score would be a 2400. how different is his score compared to a 2400 in one sitting?

It depends on teh school...

Harvard and Stanford do composite scores

and I know MIT, Caltech, Yale, some others do one sitting

thanks,

but for schools that DO take the best sections.......would this be percieved differently. in colleges that take the best sections, are these two scores distinguishable to admission officers.

You sure about Yale and the others?

You should have crossed out the first 3.

are you really going to retake with a 2270?
buddy ur insane lol

Um... I was under the impression that MIT took your composite?

i am contemplating retaking the test again for my math score. i may be applying to carnigie mellon and cornell, and they would like to see a high math score.

besides, anybody have any info on my question?

Dude...you got an 800 on your math...chill.

no, i don't think people understand my question. im asking if i DID get an 800 on math in the future, how differently would a combined 2400 be viewed from a single sitting 2400. by the time these stats go to to admissions officers, are these two scores distinguishable.

dude....you are going to get rejeced by all schools if you retake.

The colleges will think you are a "nerd". Colleges look for smart/pimp kids. Not ones who keep retesting the SAT when they are in the 98 percentile.

hahahaha i completely agree with excel....

ok, but still nobody answered the question.

i don't have any citations, but i think the 2400 in one sitting will be much more impressive than taking the test 3 times and getting a composite 2400.

even if you manage to get a 800 in math in november, it might actually hurt you taking the test 3times when you already have a good composite of 2310 from april and june

for most of the schools (def. cmu and cornell) it's just as good! If you are okay with taking it a third time then go for it. Colleges don't expect you to do better so they discourage taking the test a lot of times, but if you think you can do better then it is well worth it! Good luck!

i think that all of your scores are appropriate for the high-roller universities. all of your single sitting scores are amazing as well, so i wouldnt worry about it.

Or maybe you should try to get a 2400 in the next re-take. I think you could do it.

what if u dont get the 800 the next time? What if ur math remains at 700ish and your writing and CR fall? Then you'll just look stupid...its better to keep the scores you have, theres nothing wrong with them.

ok, im not sure at all if i am going to retake. that wasn't even actually my question. but thanks.
