2400 SAT and 36 ACT?

Why do people get a 2400 and a 36? Unless the tests were taken within a week of each other, why would anybody take the other test if they already have a perfect score on one? Does it even matter to colleges, or is there no point in getting perfect scores on both?

I don’t know, take both just to impress colleges and show off how smart they are, who knows.

Overachievers. I’m pretty sure I know a few people who would do that…

I received a 36 on the April ACT, but I have since registered for the SAT as well. I took the ACT in the first place since I like how there is an additional section in science, a strong subject for me, whereas the SAT has no such section. My ACT score will be my higher score for sure since my critical reading abilities do not quite match my Math/Science aptitude. I am taking the SAT in addition to the ACT, however, in order to complete a requirement for a chance at receiving a National Merit Scholarship, since my PSAT qualified me to move on to the next part in the selection process. I otherwise would not have taken the SAT. That is my reason for taking both, but it in no way represents why everyone else who decides to take both given a perfect score on one would actually take both.

Sometimes a student who gets a 2400 on the SAT will also take the ACT to qualify for Star Student.

For the lulz.

I think if I scored perfect on one I’d want to take the other just for kicks. I probably wouldn’t announce it to the world if I decided to do that, because that could definitely seem obnoxious.

Everyone has their reasons though, you know?

I believe silverturtle did, perhaps he could share his reasoning…

^ I took the SAT in January of my junior year but was required to take the ACT the following April in order to fulfill my high school graduation requirements: Illinois requires the ACT of its public high school students. If my lack of studying for it is any indication, I would not have taken the ACT if I had not been required to.

Same as silverturtle here. 2400 SAT in March, 36 on the state (CO) mandated ACT in April. Also didn’t study for the ACT, since it didn’t matter much at that point.

My son scored a 36 on the ACT his junior year and since he made National Merit Semi-finalist he signed up for the SAT to see if he could make National Merit Finalist. He did :)

If I had a 36…if only.
